a friend and I are looking for a CHEAP diesel that has Tax and MOT (even if it is only a month) to try some bio diesel experiments with.

we are looking cheap as possible, dont want to spend more than £100 (i know, i know!!) redface

not too worried if most things are shot aslong as the engine is pretty good and still driveable and road legal.

anyone have anything spare? midland area would be beneficial too...thanks biggrin

You will struggle at that price now as even a scrap car is now worth £70-£100 (I recently got paid £70 for a dead Mondeo that didn't even have any MOT or one straight body panel by a scrap yard that collected it from me within 2 hours of me ringing them!) The days of sub £100 cars are now gone I'm afraid.

Check out your local motor auction and Ebay (Autotrader's a waste of time at this price cause the advert costs are so high in proportion), but reckon on paying more like at least £200 for something that works, even with a very short test.

I'd recomend getting some thing with a bit of life left in it, I paid £500 for a fully historied Volvo 940 2.4td estate that runs and drives really well, it sailed through the MOT. I've had the cam belts and glow plugs changed on top of a full service to 'mess around' with WVO and home brewed bio diesel. If you have a motor on its last legs, you wont know if it died a 'natural' death or if the veggie oil killed it. Just my opinion.
For what its worth the Volvo is running 75% WVO, cold filtered through 5 layers of jaycloth, it rattles and smokes a bit on start up but seems to pull better when warm on the veggie mix. Having secured a decent amount of wvo I'm going to start processing it into Bio diesel properly and forget filling stations!!

must be able to find something. drive round the local estates and there is bound to be a snotter parked on a lawn with a for sale sign in the window
