After abit of off-topic banter in another thread thought I would start one for all those PHers that have fast cars that really shouldn't be quick.

The ones that arent meant to be able to beat the M3s, Porsches, Skylines, Lotus Elises of this world.

Let me begin

1.3 8v Mk3 Polo

My brother in law owned one which was fairly modded, great little sleeper. Theres also a pristeen black example in the village I work in being driven around by a middle aged lady. Been tempted a few times to put a note on the screen asking to give me a bell if she ever sold it.

Rather sly calling it a 1.3 8v, I was ready to laugh when you said fast and 1.3 Polo til I saw the Charger!

My mate's got a G40 in grey, decent enough but I've never been a fan of small turbo engines.

its off the road while I do some work on it.

mine has a eaton m45 charger (off a mini) instead of a the standard g-lader vw fitted.

even stock they are 150bhp per tonne.

about £500 can see the better side of 200 bhp per tonne

mine is currently running a safety map at 220bhp. could easily see more with a remap but its a polo.
handling is scary to say the least.

Limited Slip diff, subframe conversion and some other bits and bobs should see me sort that out.

hopefully off to the ring in the summer

My old BX GTi.
Plastic panels and thin steel gave a total weight of barely a tonne.

They will be in the Quaife 2008 catalogue at £545+del+VAT.

Although you can get them for £425+VAT in a Group-Buy on clubpolo.co.uk

Gripper also have a diff for about the same.

I had a Gripper in my Charade before fitting what is basically a copied ATB from a company in Australia.

While effective the gripper was too fierce for road driving IMO, basically on off engagement, it made it quite hard to adjust on the throttle mid corner also it needed rebuilding every 6-8k miles and was very noisy and clunky at maneuvering speeds.

I much prefer the ATB, its much the same as the gripper in effect but the engagement is much smoother allowing for much more precise control during cornering with none of the clunkiness of the Gripper, you wouldnt really know its there until its pulling you through the apex of a corner. Plus it doesnt need rebuilding.
