My 200SX and the saga so far
Discussion
Was planning to save for a new car until the new year, but I was so fed up of not having something quick I acted a little earlier. I was torn between a 325 and S13 but went for the latter in the end. So on Sunday I went out and bought this
It has a rebuilt engine with a T28 Turbo, Bailey dump valve, 444cc injectors, lightened and balanced crank, battery moved to the boot, front mount intercooler, paddle clutch, blitz air filter, 300ZX air flow meter and a branch manifold, drilled and grooved disks and full stainless exhaust system. The interior and bodywork are standard. On the list are coilovers, boost controller, walbro fuel pump, new stereo, an lsd and some better wheels. With all these bits I should be looking close to 300 brake on 1 bar boost. However my ownership has had a pretty inauspicious start, as I've already had to replace the clutch slave cylinder and air flow meter. Worst of all, I took the header cap off to find the dreaded brown goo! When the head gasket was changed it would appear the previous owner didn't bother to skim the head, so it is now off the road with the engine coming out tomorrow so it can be done properly. All seemed fine when we checked it, but annoying as it is these things happen. Need to look into the bad starting as well
Better pictures to follow once it's all back and working. Those clear indicators and black rubbing strip will be gone as well. There's the usual rust on the bootlid but it's otherwise solid and drives very well

Nice car, I used to have one of these on a H plate, Mine was the facelift S13, My list of mods was very similar to what you are planning to do to yours, have you been on to the owners club, a very helpful bunch of guys www.sxoc.com
Nice mate- you got that for your original budget in the other thread on this?
Bloody bargain if you did- will keep an eye out for it!
If your getting the head skimmed- I can suggest Paul Inch in Cattedown
(I supplied him with a short engine & he's doing the rebuild on my Essex for £200 including all seals & Gaskets- a bloody bargain!)
Also get yourself to the SW meets-next one's in January
ETA bad starting may dissapear once the head has been resurfaced

To bring this back up again. my car is now up and running and has gone almost 2 (yes 2) entire weeks without breaking down so I thought I'd take advantage of some empty Xmas roads to get some pictures in Plymouth's thriving industrial heartland
Now that the niggles are slowly being ironed out, it's showing itself to be a very fun car to drive. Although still on standard boost and in need of setting up, it's still pretty pokey - hopefully around 250 when all running right. There's the usual rust on the bootlid and the front bumper has been rather crudely cut out for the intercooler but nothing major. I know what you're thinking and yes, the ride height is verging on comical and is high on the list to be sorted

A final update to this as it is now for sale. Got it all working properly in the end and did a few more bits such as a quickshift and strut brace. Bought an Apexi AVC-R but never got round to fitting it so it's being sold as it is. The old boot had rusted through which is a common problem so I fitted a different one. I think it kind of works with the 2 tone and should've got the bonnet as well With petrol so extortionate at the moment and funds being tight, I need something cheaper (so an MX-5 it is.) Anyway, took these today
Will be a shame to see it go, but hey ho, we all move on. Pictures came out quite well though!

Link and full spec list here http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/491251.html not sure if I'm allowed to plug my own add on here, but I do want it gone so will listen to (reasonable) offers
Not a great deal to be honest, if you stay off boost you'll get 25-30mpg around town. Standard and performance parts are readily available form the owner's club, scrapyards or motor factors. Only downside is the insurance is pretty high at group 17. It's just at the moment I have a cash flow problem and need something cheaper to insure and kinder on fuel!
