Ok, so not quite a car - but its close enough?
Discussion
Just finished putting the final touches on this, its running a zx6r engine, 110bhp, weighs less than 500kg, goes like stink.
Decided rather than ploughing my money into a road car where it would become un-insurable (still 18) or look like most of the fibreglass tat available for small hatches Id go for something I could hone my skills creating and wouldn’t cost me a penny in insurance/tax etc.
I did seriously consider a road rally or track car but I can’t afford to spend 1000 plus on road insurance for it, or the trailer and a 4x4 to get it anywhere. This fits in the back of a van and costs very little to run and maintain.
Comments and views welcome, go easy on me though, still learning.
Cheers guys
Jim

The cable ties are there for now as it still needs alot of tweeking, and removing 10 bolts everytime you need to adjust the clutch pedal is not alot of fun.
Cable ties cost pence for 100, and can just be cut off and refitted, ill probably bolt the panels once its all perfect.
Having said that, all the panels are backed with rubber/foam strips so they dont make any noise or damage the paint, so the cable ties do the job fine for now.

I predict 130plus mph from it, I don’t know what it would max out at, and more to the point what I would max out at. So in theory yes a wing would make a difference at these speeds, but its really just for show as I wasn’t happy with the look of the rear end without it, the wheels appeared to sit too far back. I got it from eBay for 16 quid; cut 2 foot of it, red drilled and re-threaded all the holes so that it fitted the buggy width.
At the end of the day it’s an off-road kart and probably won’t exceed 50-80 most of the time.
I’ve had it for the last 4-6 months and have been working on and off depending on how long parts take to get here, etc
It was fitted with standard quad wheels a few weeks ago, and drove really wheel, back end comes out incredibly quickly, and driving out of corners on wet grass in low gears usually means you end up facing that corner. And it makes a mess of whatever it’s driving on. Suspension needs a bit of tweaking, rides a bit hard for off-road at the moment. Other than that I am very happy with the ride. Oh and getting in/out is not easy, I’m 6/2 and once your in its fine, but getting in is a bit of a struggle.
By all means have a go if your ever anywhere it is, I will be taking it to Tom's farm (off-road centre/play day) in Wales hopefully within the next few weeks.
And it doesn’t have reverse, but turns almost in its on length in the wet with a blip of the throttle or is very easy to push.
