I think I'd also go for some rear disc brakes.

I had the chance a while back but to be honest it doesn,t need discs on the rear. With a full tank of fuel and some bits in the boot it only weighed 608kg

You've got to be careful with discs on Westfields. Mine has got 9" RS2000 drums on the rear and with standard pads and shoes all round the brake balance was marginal. With Mintex M1144 pads in the front and the wankiest shoes I could find in the rear it is fine. Disc's would puch it over the edge.

Plus drums are lighter...

In that case, they are a tad unnecessary !

Its got a very mild cam at the moment so only has 111bhp (rolling road) but with only 600 kg its still pretty quick, especially on the bends. I have got a better head in the garage so I may change that and the cam over the winter.

THats good to know. I've currently got 1.3 Escort drums on mine but have brought a pair of rs2000 drums to up grade.

Perhaps swap the wings for cycle type - the old style generate soooo much lift. Good nick for an old un though. How have you stopped the chassis rusting away to nothing? Westies powder-coating standard is aweful

Westfield's powder coating for smaller items is not the best, but the chassis powder coating is fine. Mine is now 15 years old and the powder coating is holding up well, sure it has the odd nick, ding, etc, but what wouldn't after 15 years?

Are those wind deflectors the ones somebody sells through ebay £50, If so are they any good? Had the clamshell wings on mine a while back not that hard a job to change to cycle wings makes working on the engine bay a lot easier.

Yeah they are the same as the E bay ones, I bought them from the guy who makes them at the Kit Car show, they are top quality and not to bad to fit, Hinges are a bit expansive though £20 from same show.
I thought about cycle wings but I think the clamshells suit the old girl, If I bought another I would go for cycle wingssmile

Thanks, I think it was originally Post office red but Im not sure what has happened but over the years its turned to a more brown/ golden red if that makes sense. It amazes me how loads of people comment on what a nice colour it is.

I wondered if it had spent a lot of time in the sun, but I thought most Reds go a bit pink. Its different anywaysmile
