Here's a few shots of my new toy that I'm picking up on Tuesday 18th. It looks been built very wisely and I'd challenge people to find a faster car for the money. Spec includes:
-1.6 Shell (no sunroof) totally stripped out.
-Piper 270 camshaft
-1.9 engine running on twin 40 carbs (jetted for track use so useless on the road)
-1.6 gearbox with lightened and balanced flywheel
-OMP lightweight roll cage
-Corbeau bucket seats with harnesses
-306 GTI6 front calipers and disks
-in car brake bias valve
-front strut brace
-Adjustable front suspension (Camber and castor)
-uprated rear beam bushes
-braided brake lines all round
-Fire extinguisher
-Michelin N20 cut slicks (for the dry)
-Toyo Proxies T1S's (for the wet)
Have a few plans to make it faster still by putting it on a diet, going to get some perspex windows and maybe look at fibre glass body panels and a small race car battery. If the engine goes pop then of course will look at a Mi16 conversion.
Any other ideas or tips will be greatly appreciated!

I know that car! belonged to a friend of mine who is currently residing in Thailand!
I would forget Mi16 route and use a GTi-6 engine, yes it's a little more costly to buy but doesn't suffer oil surge on track as a lot of the Mi16's do, poly windows all round (except the windscreen obviously) will save in the region of 10kg so a worthwhile expense, as for fibreglass panels...the shell is flimsy enough already! lol

Perry was in Vietnam the last I heard, have been dealing with his brother Dave who is also a great guy and has been a great help. The engine thing is just a thought for the future if/when the original gives up. Can't wait to give the car a go - first runs will be round a local go-kart track with a very friendly and car mad proprietor.I would forget Mi16 route and use a GTi-6 engine, yes it's a little more costly to buy but doesn't suffer oil surge on track as a lot of the Mi16's do, poly windows all round (except the windscreen obviously) will save in the region of 10kg so a worthwhile expense, as for fibreglass panels...the shell is flimsy enough already! lol

With regard to the windows I see Demon Tweeks do a full kit for about £160 (+VAT?) IIRC is that really worth the extra expense or shall I just get some perspex/polycarbonate from somewhere and do it myself? If so what thickness is advisable and how would I go about fitting them? You could also try plastics 4 performance

Looks like great fun! How much is it setting you back?
Done a deal for £1200 which I think is fair, the car has been stood for over a year and the front bumper is hanging a bit loose but all should be well after a bit of TLC and a full service.4mm would be required, for enough information to fill a library with regards to a 205, you should register over on www.205gtidrivers.com
Ahh Vietnam, knew it was one of the two! been a while since I have spoken/heard from Perry, although last time i did he was still very happy out there teaching english

Thanks for the link, I shall take a look at work. Since you seem to know the car and owner Steve, do you know what fuel is best to run it on? Would it make a difference to use say 95/97/98 SU or do I need to use LRP or an additive?Ahh Vietnam, knew it was one of the two! been a while since I have spoken/heard from Perry, although last time i did he was still very happy out there teaching english

was he keeping it at his mums? bit of a trek for you if it's there!
No, it's in a lock at his brother's in Wayhey close, Elburton on the outskirts of Plymouth if you know it. But yeah it's still a 500 mile round trek to pick it up (I've already done the trip twice to get the car already but that's a long story)steve.c said:

Been trying to register on there for the last 2 days, god they make it difficult. If I can't get trough by the end of tomorrow then I'm giving up on it, wouldn't want to be part of a forum that doesn't want me there.Gassing Station | Readers' Cars | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
