Another Mk2 Golf - 20v turbo on megasuirt

Not wanting to disrespect all that fine work that vw have done but there is always room for improvement. I bought it on this very website, 2 owners from new, FSH, leather, PAS etc. It now sports a rather lively 1.8 20 valve turbo lump from a Mk4 Golf and a DIY megasquirt ECU. All the work was done on my driveway in the rain (well it was June...) and the result is the perfect budget family car. Currently has a very mild 180bhp - this will go up to around 230bhp when I put the new clutch in. Scared? You bet I am.

I agree - it is awesome. It took about 4 weeks of evenings and weekends to do the swap.

Thats what I like about it - no-one knows what terror lies within, it even has the standard 8v exhaust poking out the back...

nice car m8, thought bout the 20vt turbo myself, then even the pd150 engine, from a previous leeon cupra tdi owner, tis my dream to do it to the golf

the 1.8t is a great engine with loads of tuning potential, sounds w*nk compared to a g60 though!!!

abit biased are we, you right the g60 does sound beter, but still wouldnt say no to the 20VT lump

I agree it does sound dull but if you just want some noise go and buy a Saxo and put a 4" exhaust on it.
