... but smooth, comfortable and a really nice place to spend a leisurely journey. Proof that honestly described cars can still be found on eBay...

Will hopefully keep me nicely entertained without needing too much work until one of my 99 turbos finally gains an MOT!!

Can't help thinking that a pair of Super Oscars would add a nice retro touch though...?

Very nice, I've got a soft spot for Saabs after having a (non-) Saab GM900. I always wanted to get a 99 and drop in an Abbott tuned engine for the ultimate sleeper.

Could be tempted to lose the blue Saab 99 sticker on the front though

Thanks to all for the positive comments smile

I paid £525 with 11 months MOT and 7 months tax.

One owner until 2000 and just a couple since, it is showing 95k miles with enough documentation to make it most likely genuine, and is as clean up close as the pictures suggest - just a couple of very small cosmetic rust spots which I will sort as a matter of priority. Mechanically it feels and sounds barely run in!! smile

It's the GL model with the base spec single carb 2 litre putting out a whole 100bhp if I remember correctly!!

That said I had one of these back in the late eighties and it could give the original XR3i a hard time, which admittedly ain't much of a claim to fame, but it amused me at the time wink

Looks great, nice purchase.

Just to even things up I like the Blue Saab Sticker on the front.

Also, may I recomend that you change it over to a twin carb set up? - will certainley keep you entertained until (and probably when) the turbo's are back on the road.

The front spoiler isn't original to the car (think it's off an EMS model) and has been sprayed to match the car but not particularly well - it's a bit yellow compared to the white paint of the car, so I may spray it to match properly, which obviously would resolve the sticker / no sticker issue!!! smile

What a fantastic little Saab

I absolutely love Saabs and funnily enough I was watching one on Ebay last night, the same model and colour as that

Brilliant thumbup

Thanks very much - they are quirky little cars, certainly not to everyones taste, but once exposed to them, they do have a tendency to get under ones skin! wink

I tend to post on SaabCentral mostly (bit more of a lurker here!), so there are pics galore of my cars, and the work I have been doing on them, on my threads there:

1982 99GL

1980 99 turbo 2dr

1978 99 TURBO 3dr
