My latest acquisition, 1981 BMW E21 323i.

The valve stems seem a bit stuffed, which means the head will probably have to come off, then I think it needs to be skimmed. Might as well throw in a cam while I'm at it. The stuff like the ignition will need to be tidied up/replaced, that air intake will need to be improved, one muffler has a small hole so they will need to be replaced and on and on it goes.

God this is going to turn into such a money pit hehe

Excellent! Lovely motor! thumbup

Was this the one on Ebay per chance? You're going to have so much fun with that lovely straight six.

Lots of sideways fun in the wet too! Good luck with it. smile

Yep, I stupidly bought it off eBay without looking at at first. It was going cheap so I chucked a bid on it and to my suprise I won the damn thing. So I had to catch a train down to Portsmouth and pick it up. This was made more interesting by the fact I haven't really properly driven in the UK before, haven't driven much at all in the past 2 years and hadn't driven a manual in over 3 years!

Eventually made my way back to London, but upon reaching around Putney high street the clutch started sinking to the floor (it had been getting slowly worse the whole way back), brilliant, no clutch as I enter central London on a Saturday afternoon. Anyway I somehow blundered my way across town getting hopelessly lost and making many enemies and generally looking like a n00b crunching gears everywhere paperbag but I did somehow make it back in once piece. Turned out the Clutch slave cylinder was stuffed.

Now I just need to find a garage to keep it in.
