I've owned my car since July 2002, and it's changed.... a little. LOL

Here's it when I got it:

Here it is now:

(Please excuse the different colour lights - it's soon to be repainted)

Apart from looking a little different (), the motor has been completely rebuilt using forged/motorsport parts, so I can take part in Ten Of The Best as part of TeamMR2 this year.

The full details for the car can be found on my website: www.red-beast.co.uk

Enjoy,

EarL.

At first glance didn't like the spoiler but i've changed my mind!!! That car is mint mate and it sounds awsome on the vid clip!! What sort of cash would you look at roughly to get that engine spec? It looks really good. Is that a front mount intercooler or uprated rad? If it's a cooler are you getting much lag from it?

Lovely car again mate!!

Thanks Jonesy.

The spoiler is not to everyones taste, but it does serve a purpose. Removing it makes the rear end squirm around all over the place under hard breaking (the car has been built for TOTB. One of the disciplines is the top speed run). If you consider it's breaking from around 160mph, then you'll understand what I mean.

The engine build was around 17k, but that was for everything. Turbo kit, head mods, labour, the lot.

The rad you can see at the front, is the pre-rad for the charge cooler system. It's a Radtech, which is good for well over 600hp, which is just as well, as the car is shortly to be re-mapped and RR'd, and Dave Rowe recons it'll hit somewhere around that at the fly.

Updates on the site when it's done.

I can't help thinking its more likely the rev1 rear suspension setup/geometry shorter rear arms than rev2+ cars rather than aerodynamics the squirming under braking. Have you upgraded the Brakes to REV2+ they are miles better, maybe worth getting a rev2 or 3 rear subframe as well. I tracked my old rev2 turbo loads and braking was one of the things it did best.

Think the car looks ok, but I'd loose the PP engine cover, spray the carbon bonnet red and pop a carbon rev3 rear wing on it (sprayed red). Would be more sleeper then and look less Barry Boy wink

For your information, there was a kart race going on at the time and the road was closed. There hadn't been a car come from the circuit for ages until I did my test runs.

I can see why you thought that though.

Appreciate the comments re the rear end, but the rear subframe was replaced for a Rev 3, and it has Tein Type flex all round.

As for the rest of your comments, well, if it was your car, thats how it would look, but the car's mine, and I like it the way it is.

Thaqnks anyway though.

I can't agree more! The point of building a car is to have it your way. Very interested in seeing what it makes after the remap. What engine management you running and who does your mapping?

Will you be at JAE this year? I'm going to be mithering you with questions all day!!! lol

That's funny I've tested at Llandow and I'm sure that ain't part of the track and the marshals wouldn't allow two cars to drive in the opposite direction so personally I think you were testing on a public road. If you want to do standing starts go to a drag race and test.

Oh and looking at your website you actually say you're driving it hard on public roads...

"Dave suggested we head towards a road that leads up towards the Silverstone race circuit, as this is long and straight, and normally pretty clear of traffic."

"4th gear and it still felt like it was trying to lift the front wheels! I've never felt such a rush in my life!"

EarLMR2 stop driving like a prat on public roads and test your p&j somewhere else...

...and the squirming under braking... check your brake bias.

It has a MoTeC M400 and is mapped by Dave Rowe of MoTeC Europe. Dave also maps people like Alistair McRae's rally car, along with many of the top drag cars in Europe.

Yes, I'll be at JAE. Justr keep a lookout for me, I'll be around the MR2 Village all weekend.

EarL.

why is that when the people with the expensive cars on here say "they are making progess cos the roads are nice and clear and I know how to drive" then no-one minds but as soon as its a modified car or a young person or even someone who isnt a regular poster then they are called a danger and told that they shouldnt be driving like that on a public road?

Think its a bit hypocritical to be honest.

I havent seen the video myself so cant comment on his driving but I have read many times on here people driving at 100+ leptons because in their view it is safe to do so.
