Hi guys,

Well on Wednesday the guys down at Woodman MINI (in Blackpool) sorted out my Aero Kit. It looks fantastic, and I'm dead chuffed with it. Its completley tranformed the look of the car, Im so happy with it all smile. The pictures really dont do it justice.

Aero Spoiler is due to be fitted in around three weeks when it comes off back order from Germany..

Before anyone says it, I know the exhaust looks daft! Woodmans were supposed to fit me a Cooper chrome tail finisher, so that the zaust filled the slash properly, but unfortuantley it would not fit. frown

So as a result I'm having a custom back box made by PowerFlow exhuasts, so that I can have a proper straight pipe coming out at the rear. I'm going with one of their various exhaust trims. The job is going to cost me £170, so all in all not too bad....

Hope everyone likes it!

Apart from the exhaust faff, I'm over the moon with it.

Regards,

James.

P.S, this is the tail finsher that I have provisionaly agreed to have put on the back box. It doesnt look like it in the pic, but its kind of slash cut.

PowerFlows full range of tail pipes can be seen here So if anyone thinks one of those would look better, then feel free to post and I'll consider. However the guy said that I would be fairly limited, because some are obviously larger than others!

EDIT: To add/change the pics

Is it a diesel then? Diesel tail pipes normally point to the ground like that don't they?

It certainly is a diesel. Only 88bhp but I love it though. (although a remap to 110 bhp would be rather nice, however ins being 19 would probs be a prob)

Yeh the tail pipe does point down, which is rather annyoing. I'm sure there is a reason for it, but my previous diesel Citroen C2 didnt point down. :S

The back box is going on on Tuesday, so the exhuast woes should be sorted soon. smile

You can saw the end of the exhaust off with a hacksaw and that attachment will fit on. If your getting an attachment, your probably better off getting one from a chav aftermarket catalogue as I'd imagine the original mini one will cost quite a bit. Alternatively you can just have an end bit welded on by powerflow instead of getting the full job done. I think the pipe bends down because of the high carbon level in diesel exhaust fumes causing soot to form on the bumper. I've seen a chaved mondeo diesel with huge dustbin pipes and there was black sooty deposits all around the exhaust on the bumper.

Re-map wise, would you not consider a bluefin (by superchips). Its a module where you load on the application for the higher remap from a portable remap device and at the press of a button you just unload it back to standard. This is probably less risky than having a permanent remap loaded or even soldered onto your cars ecu.

Just my two pence. Nice car by the way.

Hi Tony,

Thanks for your post. smile

Unfortunatley, you cant see in the pic that the exhuast is actually slightly off-centre. So if I were to just fit a tail pipe it would not fill the bumpers recess properly, and would probably touch the bumper itself. frown That is why a back box is also needed. I explored most of the options, because I didnt really want to sped much money on this. frown

Secondly, Superchips do not make a Bluefin system for the ONE D, much to many owners dissapointment. I totally agree with what you are saying about its benifits, and if it were avliable then I would probably buy one (insurance permitting). It would be much more convinent to return the car to standard for services etc. smile

Finally, thanks for the kind words about the car. It my P&J, and my money pit! lol

Regards,

James.

Ok the back box is now fitted biggrinbiggrin

In the end it cost me £160, which considering it had to be custom made and fitted to the car and took two hours isnt bad at all...

I'm pleased to report it looks fantastic. It has completely transformed the rear of the car, and no more stupid gap remains where the tail pipe should have been.

Here are some really rather shoking pics I just took on the drive, so that people can see the results.

I'll take some proper pics and post them later, when it stops pouring with rain. frown

As you can see, I went for a different tail pipe in the end. The guy had just got this one in yesterday, and I like the look of it more than the previous one I had posted pics of. The quality of this one was also superior to the orginal choice. So all in all, I'm VERY happy with the look.

The sound is much improved over standard, at the end of the day diesels dont sound great, but it 'burbles' much more than it did previously. It also sounds rather throughty when you boot it.

Performance wise, its not much different to be honest. It *feels* like it might rev more freely, but that could just be psychological due to the sound.... either way, it was £160 very well spent.

Regards,

James.

those wheels really suit the car, and I normally prefer BMW minis in the lighter colours (so you get a contrast with the black parts) your looks very nice indeed smile

Seconded.
The wheels are reminiscent of the Audi RS4s.
