This is my contribution to saving the planet, my 2006 Pug 107 Urban!!
Probably the best car i have ever owned for everyday use, it never does less than 55 mpg, it does 100 mph, its comfy, has all the toys and costs peanuts to run, tax is £35 a year, £110 insurance and is congestion charge exempt. It can seat four unlike a Smart and is also a lot cheaper to buy, and is much better quality!

These pics are from our regular round trip to see my parents in Wales, 700 odd miles and not even a numb bum!

And a quick one i did on photoshop

The 107, C1 and Aygo are exactly the same car save for some detail changes. A mate of mine has an Aygo but would change to a Peugeot just because his Toyota dealer is useless. They all have a Toyota 3 cyl VVT engine so are very reliable and economical, so whatever you buy is only on which one of the three you think looks the best, i hate the Aygo, but prefer the Pug over the Citroen. The Citroen appears the cheapest to, but doesnt come with any goodies, mine has electric windows, abs, stability control, brake assist, 4 airbags, cd player with i pod socket etc.

They do share the same platform, the Citroen and Pug are virtually identicle apart from front bumpers and front and rear lights, but the Aygo is a lot different.

I dont think a glass roof is on the options list.

Well with owning a Camaro aswell i know all about poor quality plastics!!

On the exterior there is only trim and the bumpers that are plastic, and on the interior its no different in qulity to any other jap car, i have done 10000 miles in it now with no rattles as of yet.

Im a technician for Merc, i also have the odd dealings with Smarts, in my opinion they are not so Smart! Money is better spent elsewhere.

The Camaro is fun, but horrendously built!!

My professional opinion of the Smart Fortwo is they are overpriced, overrated, poor quality, cheap plasticy interior, nasty to drive and impractical. The Forfour is better quality and nicer to drive but its just the next size up smart car, and in that respect they are no match for any other supermini in that sector, the coupe and roadster are fun but are still as poorly built as the Fortwo.

A range of completely pointless cars, which Merc dont seem to realise, even though Smart still continues to make a loss every year, and has done for the past 10 years.

I havnt had any dealings with the new one yet, but i cant see them being any better, Mercs whole range seems be compromised in the quality department.

I would say a city car would have to be very good quality as it will see more than its fair share of knocks and dents in a busy enviroment like a city, and the components would see a lot more use than a car that was used for motorway driving, or freeway in your case.

Cute little car, but is it really congestion charge exempt?? I thought that was reserved for electrics, bikes and US diplomats?

Yes, Smarts are also.

If its emmissions are below 109g/kg co2 which it is then its exempt, which is band a and b, the Pug is band b and electric cars are band a. Its the most enviromentally friendly petrol car you can buy today.

Nice car! I had an Aygo sport for a while. Thought it was actually quite a cool car in its own way. Kind of green but not in a gooner/smug way. Had ABS, EBD, alloys, electric windows, air-con, cd etc - everything you could realistically want. Like you say nice honest car. Would sit at 100 on the motorway all day! Also thought the engine made quite an endearing growl! (not sure thats quite the right word!). Only problems I found was that 2nd and 3rd gears where quite high meaning that it wasnt as nippy around London as I thought it could have been, also the EBD seemed horribly confused by speed bumps and lumps, especially in the wet, resulting in one or two hair raising moments! Guess something to do with making it so fuel efficient. Always thought the seats were quite funky in their own way too. Interesting to hear what other people think about them!

I would agree with you about the gearing, not so much third but second was a pain when it was ney, but now its run in it seems to pull a lot better and its not so noticeable now.

Ben, I found that too, engine loosened up quite abit with some miles, think did about 15k in a year. What you think of the brakes (specifically the ABS/EBD)? Braking relatively heavily over speed bumps they genuinely seemed to do more harm then good! Especially compared to the Mini (new one) I had before! I actully ended up taking it too a dealer and going out in it with him and showing him what it was doing - he said was just the EBD redistributing grip when it was slipping on a bumpy/wet surface. To me just felt like the breaks where just coming off when I needed them most. But maybe just me! Have you ever noticed anything similar? Having said that car was always fine on a dry smooth surface.
