I was indeed on the M3 yesterday! Christ, small world!

Saw some nice cars yesterday on the M3, what car were you in?

That carlton is just wonderful, really really lovely! I like what you've done with the rear lights too.

Just out of interest - what part of the world are you in?

What a small world!

Its a great car to own, you get people talking to you about it everywhere. One bloke was hanging out the passenger window of a Merc Vito van filming it on his phone on the M3 this morning when I came back!

It was a dream car for me when I was a kid - had it for 4.5 years now and still love it as much as when I got it. Ive actually only done 9000 miles in it in those 4.5 years. However, this year Ive promised myself a few more miles in it.

Might sell the Z3 this year and get an Elise/Espirit or similar to go with the Carlton.

Moonyman - I flit between Berkshire/London and Hampshire/Dorset. The rear lights are Irmscher units. Thanks for the comments.

Paul

The rear lights really add to the car, never seen them on a Carlton before.

I have to go to Reading/Newbury occasionally so I'll be keeping an eye out just in case!

In fact, I hope you don't mind but I've just used those pictures elsewhere... :-)

Not a problem Moony.

The Z3M is an acquired taste. Im not really a 2 seater sports car fan but I wanted somthing a bit different, somthing you dont see much of. And the mrs loves it! Its only done 35,000 miles and is like new.

This is a nice site, and what an excellent forum!

that is a cracking looking Carlton you have there! the true founding father/originator of the Q car IMO!
when you do come to replace the Z3M maybe you should consider a TVR?
a Carlton and a Tiv would be like the automotive equivalent of the Kray twins!

Without wishing to take anything away from the Carlton, its hardly a Q car, that accolade must rest with the E28 M5 which not only predates the Carlton by a few years, is far more discrete

God I love Lotus Carltons... I always said I'd only sell the Modded cossie to get a Lotus carlton but I never did mainly as I now have to many toys to justify it.

A Lotus elise would compliment it very well, you clearly have excellent taste.thumbup

Where was that??? There's a fake red one, presumeably a GSI3000 conversion. I've never seen a proper one locally though.
