But only for a couple of weeks
While my is in for a suspension rebuild (at 6.5k and it'll take three weeks ) I've got an Elise to play with. And it's absolutely fantastic
One thing though, it understeers way more than the previous Elise I've driven (that was a Series 1, this is the current model.) Do they all do this ? Or has this one been tweaked so test-driving numpties don't kill themselves
Very very very nice car though. Shame I can't afford one

JD, I'm afraid the simple answer is yes. The S2 has had a bit more understeer dialled in to stop people throwing themselves off the road when backing off mid corner... which is either a good thing if you like your cars safe(ish) but fun or a bad thing if you like your cars challenging but rewarding. I'm in the latter camp myself...
Think of the S1 as being a little like Eurofighter - inherantly unstable, but very agile as a result. S2 may be more like a Hawk

It's a 111, standard AFAIK. I think the 111 is the Elise with the VVC ?

It's like the Eurofighter I was wondering why the ejector seat didn't work properly What is that little handle on the outer edge of the seat squab (by the sill) for ? Doesn't do anything as far as I can tell...

I think you're talking about the lumbar support. Should have a little rubber pump thingy at the back of the seat by the sill and then just underneath that is the valve to let air out.

I could be wrong as what you are referring to though

Hope you enjoy the Elise. Mine is "only" the std S2, does understeer a bit but I love the feeling I get driving it. You're just so connected with everything that is happening. I haven't managed to spin / get oversteer round the roundabut near work yet and two colleagues who have Elises ahve told me I'm just not trying hard enough

Got oversteer this morning ... but I was on an old runway, I wouldn't do what I did (2nd gear, wet surface, L R flick, nail the throttle) on the road in a million years
It is the lumbar support I think, but the inflation thingy seems to have fallen off The valve looks suspiciously like the one on my Transit !
Can the seat rake be adjusted ?

No adjustment on the seat rake as far as I know, just simple back and forward.

Mind you that's better than the passenger seat simply bolted to the floor !
