that looks very nice!
had a look at one of these in my local BM showroom the other week.
they look the business with the full M sport kit in Silver or Black IMO, and the 335 makes a decent change to the usual 320d's you see everywhere!
good luck!

Very nice, and a 78bhp increase in power would be awsome, although i'm not too sure that huge an increase would be possible from just the remap.

Yes, it has two turbos; 1 that kicks in at more or less tickover and then as the revs rise it hands of to a bigger turbo...

There is hardly any turbo lag at all, very impressive.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Im planning on taking it to santa pod once the re-map is done (apparently 78bhp increase is possible from just a re-map, so ive been told, watch this space) to do a few 1/4 mile runs... Im guessing if it is tunned to 385bhp it would do a 'high 12 seconds' run...?

Given that it's turbo'd I'd guess the remap will raise boost a little and possibly be more aggressive on the timing. It'd be interesting to see what the raised temps from upping the boost would do to the cooling system over time. Maybe a larger intercooler would be needed to maintain current temps but then it get's seriously expensive

Very nice rep mobile though!

Birds have the Hartge kit already tested and on there's I believe the map alone yields about 60bhp increase with the exhaust giving a further 15+bhp, I can believe it as well my modest Golf 1.8 turbo has released 77 extra horses from a map, exhaust, CAI and TIP it also has a larger intercooler but that does not add to the BHP it merely maitains it at high temps.

My brother has just taken delivery of a 318 M sport and except for the twin pipes and badge looks the same. A nice car but aren't you a little p~***d off that you spend all that money and it takes a real car nut to see the difference between your 335 and a 318?

Yeah I do see what your saying, and granted, side by side with a 318 there wouldn't be hardly anything between them (looks wise).

but in a way, that appeals to me... its not loud or in your face, it can be very comfortable and smooth to drive, but also it can really shift if you want it to...

for an everyday car that needs to be reliable, safe for my family, comfortable, able to be driven by my other half, and for me to have some fun in when im on my own I really couldn't find anything better for the money...

Yes im also interested to hear if the company (DMS) are able to stick to their quotes... but there are other re-map companies that are quoting similar figures (although 385 is the highest)

If it required me to fiddle around with other bits I wouldn't get it done as I don't want to invalidate the warrantee on the car...

Overheating and stress on the rest of the engine are all questions ill need to ask before taking the plunge. Failing that, there is a company in America called Proceed who offer a 'Plug and Play' chip that just slots into an empty slot next to the ECU and instantly increases power to 365bhp... im tempted by this aswell... any advice anyone?

At the end of the day its a brand new car that I rely on, so I'd only want to re-map it if I was sure that it wasn't going to cost me in the future...

Not sure if you know how the bmw ecu works so apolgies if I am teaching you to suck eggs, as far as I am aware the ECU only has a ltd amount of spaces within its memory to store either update's or different maps, one thing I would look for in a re-map in this case is someone that can effictively find there way round this or be able to clear the history of what has been done.

An example is said remap is fitted most likely they will remove the soft limiter on the ecu with the map, you will revert it back to standard to take it into your stealer but if you have exceeded the top speed it will be logged and noted at the service and bang no warranty.

I appreciate I am being a little extreme in my example but beware if you get it mapped make sure they can wipe the offending data for you when you need to take it back in for work.

Very good advice there, thanks.

Im not sure that the re-maps Ive been looking at a easily undone for when I need to take a trip to the stealer..?

Even if they were surely that wouldn't be something I could do on my driveway is it?
I would have to take it back to the re-mappers everytime... very costly I imagine?

I know of someone who comes highly recommended may not hit the bigger numbers but I am sure you will not be dissapointed I will get his info and send you a PM.

For reference a friend who has one of his maps has had him out to him to reset it when it had to go in for work etc very helpfull and accomadating by all accounts that I have heard.
