Spent the day giving the Rover the full treatment today. Took afew pics, thought I'd post them up. Rubbish camera though....

I had the car from _Batty_ on here and the ownership experience so far has been "patchy" - not the car fault though, the stupid turd of a garage!

Its a great performer, aboce 100 (leptons) its much quicker than my Impreza was, I think its to do with the gearing... 140 (leptons) is almost on the rev limiter in 5th (so i've been told)

Got quite a "rude" exhaust, decatted - but it sounds awesome and pops and burbles on the overrun. No one expects it to be a 600 that is making such a racket hehe Managed to set off 5 alarms on the way up the multi storey..."tres amusant" as the French would say.

In a straight line, in anything other than bone dry, it'll spin the wheels in 1st and 2nd as soon as the boost comes in.

It doesnt really do corners either.

The other side of the coin is its a super comfy walnut and leather luxobarge!

(So far) Recommended!

p.s. I know it looks like a Taxi.

Hey don't knock it! I had one for 3 years and whilst not the most exciting car is was great for wafting up the M6/M74 for a few hours and surprisingly fun through the Highlands. Generally good memories.
Mind I did sell it and buy a Caterham.

Since when did the first car to win the british art council award ever become a turd in the first place?

Is a first rate car.

A friend of mine swears by the rover 2.0 turbo unit, he had the 220 Turbo Coupe (Tourque steer hell, i ended up buying it aswell) then the 620Ti and now onto the 800 Coupe Vitesse model (quite rare)

i love the engine though, great car!

Nice one, great sleeper cars

Am a Rover turbo fan myself (see profile ) so appreciate how quick and stealthy these things are.

Think I've seen that username on rovertech too?

I remember getting totally wasted by a 620Ti when I had my Golf GTI back in the late 90s. I remember thinking how could such an inocuous looking Rover be so fast, LOL! I like street sleepers cool

You can get 350 hp from one of those with a Garrett GT2540 turbo!

A Guide To Garrett’s "GT" Model Numbers

GTxxyyzz:

* Positions "xx" refers to the frame size of the turbine wheel inducer.

o For example the "GT28" in "GT2860RS" refers to its turbine wheel frame size family. All GT28 units use a turbine wheel with 53.85mm inducer diameter

o As a rule of thumb, the larger the number, the larger the turbine wheel.

* Positions "yy" designate the compressor wheel exducer (major) diameter in millimeters
o The "60" in the GT2860RS example above has a 60mm compressor wheel exducer diameter.
o Note: Wheel sizes 100mm and over omit the "1" (hundreds digit)
o Example: the 02 in a GT4202 refers to its 102mm compressor wheel exducer diameter
* Positions "zz" may be used to designate special features of a particular turbocharger where applicable
o Example: GT2860RS
o "R" = this is a Ball Bearing unit
o "S" = used for units which require some differentiation from units in the same family
Compare a GT2860R to a GT2860RS. While both are ball bearing and externally similar, the GT2860RS is better suited for higher-flow applications than the GT2860R. In this case, the S reflects the higher-flowing nature of the GT2860RS

This would mean a GT25 frame size (small) and 40mm compressor wheel size, must have a limit of about 200bhp?

p.s. Nice Rover, I thought about a 620ti as a descrete runabout, rust on the rear arches worried me when I went to look at a few, they were all suffering, is your tin worm free?

Liking it nice tidy car, doesn't look any more racy than your boggo 1.6, just the way it should be... all go and no show!
