I picked it up in November last year, and we've done 2000 miles together, and passed my driving test.

It's a laugh in the corners, and grips so well that it hasn't lost traction once yet in a corner. However, it does roll a bit, and the seats don't offer enough support so you tend to have to try and grip onto the wheel. Therefore I might get a modest spring upgrade so that it stays more stable in the twisty stuff.

Anyway, here's the pictures I got today. Could have mistaken it for summer!

Fantastic little motors!

They love revs and you can be a complete hooligan in one and get away with it.

Nice one, mate.

Looks nice and clean, and well looked after. Enjoy it. More power and speed will come in the fullness of time.

I've got more respect for someone who enjoys their KA and appreciates it that someone who has a Lambo and doesn't.

Thanks, I appreciate it. It's brilliant fun, and can't see anything else I can afford being as fun. All I want is some slightly stiffer springs, which may also make it look a little more menacing.

Also been fiddling with photoshop and came out with this:

if you're going to fiddle with the suspension look into what you could get for the rallyka. the bits were sparco i think. the sportka has a wider rear track so bits from that may not fit..(worth doing research on though).

I had a couple of fiesta 1.25 zetecs because i prefer that engine - but the ka is much better looking and (a bit) better handling 9althought the fiesta is good/underrated). having said that, yours must be the sohc, rather than the old ohv, engine right..?

Yes matey, it's the 1300 70bhp Duratec.

What do you mean by the rallyka?

they did a sort of clubman rally version. it was basically a ka with a rollcage and uprated suspension. i can't for the life of me remember the name. really annoying !

it's the ford 'ka rally 1300/1400 championship' or something...

Yerp, they only did 1 full road going version which is advertised in the PH Classifieds. If you think the Ka rolls a lot you need to drive some small french cars! The Ka is a master of body control for a car it's size tbh, and i wouldn't waste your money on a suspension kit - enjoy the fact the ka lets you transfer the weight enough to through it around nice and safely. The fact you said you haven't broken traction seems to suggest you haven't really got to the point where you need more grip/roll.

Good cars though, slow as hell but incredibly good "drivers" cars in my humble experience.

Cheers,
Rob.

Great first car - I still enjoy a hoon in my old one when I got home to visit my folks.

Only one Racing Ka came out of Boreham... that said, if you fancy going the same route, you can buy all the bits - www.gorallyschool.co.uk/motorsport_parts.html

I love these little things. If I'm lucky, when the Focus goes in for a service they give me a Ka courtesy car. Slower than the Focus by a long way, but so much fun to be had chucking 'em around and all at relatively low speeds!

I've got some new pictures. As you can see i've taken off the hubcaps and polished up the black steels. Not sure if I like the rally style look or not yet.

Looks a bit like a hire car with no trims tbh. I like the idea though, maybe if they were painted white like a 106 rallye it might work? Although i'm completely biased i like the ka3 alloys that mine wears - maybe get some of those off ebay? I doubt you'd have to declare it either as it'd look like original equipment. If i had your car and was intending to keep it for a while i'd probably get some and think about lowering it about 30mm. It's looking nice already mind, great cheap drivers car; i'm getting more and more confident with a bit of lift off oversteer, it really livens up some boring drives when you can wag the tail around a roundabout

My little sister has a SportKa and it's a proper giggle to drive!!!

If only Ford could give them a touch more power out of the box they would be awesome!!! The chassis is begging for more power to make the most of it!

Maybe an RST conversion or a 1.6 Zetec SE engine (lightweight all-alloy rev-tastic little engine)? thumbup

I'd love to get hold of one for a 'project' car although one of the Ford 'tuning' mags (Fast/Performance Ford) have just gotten hold of a Ka to do exactly that

What would set that Ka of nicely is lowering slightly and get some old school minilites on there

Small and wide thumbup
