Another New Guy
Discussion
Evening all,
I just thought I'd say hello and introduce myself! I signed up earlier today, although I have been browsing around the site for quite a while now. It's about time I signed up.
Anyways, I'm 24 and from Kent, and of course the part you're most interested in, I drive a 2004 Skoda Octavia vRS.
Bar a few minor things, the car is standard, although I'm hoping to make a few changes in the future. I've had it for a year now, and covered 10k miles, and still loving it. Really hoping to do a few trackdays sometime as I'm still a trackday virgin, so will be keeping an eye out for any local events.

Its actually a real pleasure to drive. I was initially looking at buying a Clio 182, but after having already had two Clios, I felt like a change. I absolutely loved the 182, took a Trophy for a spin too, but I fell for the Octy instead. You could call it my sensible choice. Extremely practical, but with more than enough performance to keep me smiling for a while. It just eats the miles up with ease.
Plans for the future definitely include a remap, but as there is still a year left on the warranty, I'm reluctant to do anything soon. Details on whether a remap will void the warranty or not seem quite vague, and differ between dealers, so I'd rather not take the risk.
At the time of buying, I was offered a drive in a Fab vRS, but as I had my mind set on the Octy and didn't know too much about the Fab, I didn't bother. I really regret that now as I've heard nothing but great things about them. I hope to have a go in one sometime!

I know all about the drastically improved quality, and the nicely performing engines, and the fact they're not really a Skoda anymore. But I just can't get rid of that stigma attached to the Skoda name. Maybe if I get a ride in one, one day ?
I was exactly the same as you mate. Then I had a go in my uncles one and I am a big fan now! try and have a burn in one and think you will be converted!

I know what you're saying. I got a few comments when I first bought it, but I think I've managed to change their minds. Doesn't bug me too much, we never had Skodas where I grew up, so never really got to know the Skodas which had the dodgy rep.
If you're ever in the area, give us a shout.
Yay ! Another vRS owner !
I have owned my Yellow Octavia vRS for about a year now and still love it ( and other peoples reactions to it ) .
Most are surprised just how good it is , and those that turn their nose up - stuff 'em , they are the ones missing out .
I owned a Fabia vRS for 18 months before I bought the Octavia - and that really surprised people - a fast Skoda and a diesel
Welcome !

When I had an A3 I looked into chipping it and discovered a company that offers 'plug in' chips which you could plug in below the ashtray and take out in the event of a claim or a trip to the dealer. Apparentley when it's pulled out there is no sign of it left on the ECU.
Hope this helps - sorry I can't remember the name of the company that does them!

Yellow looks great, especially when the car's clean. Yeah, I've surprised a few people. The fact a lot of people don't know much about them kind of adds to the appeal for me.
