what is a vauxhall lotus trooper?

It's black, got lotus badges, turbocharged and er... diesel. Worse still, it's a 7 seat numpty 4x4 used for tugging the wife's horses about.

It's not really a Vauxhall, it's an Isuzu and sold in the UK as the Vauxhall Monterey 4x4.

On certain Isuzu models, Lotus have tweaked the suspension setup - makes it handle more like a car than a blamange. Sadly they neglected to tweak the engine, 0-60 times are measured with a calender. Have to say as 4x4's go, it handles extremely well on the road and is very capable off-road too (yes, it does actually go off-road unlike most).

From the GM owned days, we get them here as Isuzu Bighorns. I think Lotus did the suspension work on em. If you look closely you can see a badge just behind the front wheel arch. That's the Lotus badge with "Engineered by Lotus" next to it.
