Discussion
pretty new on here though i might aswell get a few pics up. my car inst expensiv and not undergoing any major restoration just slowly tinkering with i as a daily driver. after 3 or four months i now think its looking pretty good and is finally running right so let see what people think. (its not so popular in th vw scene because ts a late looker, hopefully people on here will be a bit more open minded.

cheers guys, really appreciate the feedback, and nice to hear what people outside of the veedub scene think! the wheels i got from a friend (dan simpson) who build high spec beetle engines, in the back of his garage. they are hard to get hold of especially in that size, they are wide version of the original with a mad offset on the rear, and i think they really set the car off, just needs the go for the show now, and the body work tidying (not as pretty up close!!)

Welcome to the forum...
That Beetle is sweet! Subtle and tastefully done.
I personally like the rat beetles, seen a few beauts at Santa Pod.

mate if im honest there is barely any rust on either of the cars, it just sounds to me that you arent into retro look cars, if its not your thing thats fair enough. the mini looks fairly tatty hoever is mechanically sound (the look both cars are trying to acheive, which a lot of people just dont get) and extremely quick, aimed at surprising people like you who dont have a clue what they are looking at!
im not sure, i think a retro race inerior is the next step with some corbeau classics and a lotus crtina woodrim steering wheel. i have to tip the decklid a few inches to stop over heating, but de bumpering im not sure on, i can see where your coming from, but thats a look that has been done to death unfortunatley, using the little t bar bumper thingys. im looking at red stripe tyre walls and a different exhaust sytem.

On that note - you are a tool.
I think that beetle is a cracker, the wheels are very indeed.
Yeh but ths is the guy who "won the lottery" then came on the forum to ask what car to buy!!

Beautiful job GingerBeetle, perfect blend of original and mod's - brings back memories
Do your front tyres make a lovely grumbly noise as they hit and melt onto the wing edge on hard corners? or did I just go a tad far with the lowering on mine

hehe not on the front its not low enough...yet! but the back however, im loosing tyres paridly to rubbing arches, i think im gonna have to go for adjustable spring plates or thinner wheels, but really dont wann looks great on the back.

Have you rolled the arches over? it's not the funnest job in the world (I'd buy a second set of wings to do it on, or get it done professionally!!) but might just get you the clearance you need, instead of having a gentle radiused L shape roll you end up with a much sharper but less intrusive U. Will save you lots of cash on tyres!
