whoops! edited as i clicked "post" not "preview"...

anyway, it has appeared on other forums, but here is a bit of info on my car:

1982 Vauxhall Astra 1.2L

Engine
1998cc dohc 16v C20XE. standard apart from custom manifold, Astra GTE 16v exhaust and itg filter.
Lightened flywheel and F16 gearbox.

Suspension and Brakes
Fully adjustable Spax all round, Astra GTE 16v front discs, calipers and master cylinder. Astra GTE 16v rear beam and disc conversion.

Wheels
Compomotive style of indeterminable manufacture. Toyo T1R tyres.

Bodywork
mk 1 Astra Saloon shell, painted Ford Imperial Blue. Nova wingmirrors, bonnet pins, Seam-welded from bulkhead forward.
Otherwise standard - how i like my cars.

Interior
Astra GTE digital instruments. OMP buckets seats with full Sabelt harnesses. erm, nothing else!

that's about all, it is currently pretty tame, i would say no more than 160bhp at the most, though is capable of a 14.8s 1/4 mile at Santa Pod, although this could be improved by bettering my starts.

future plans include a full roll cage to help stifen up the shell.

Well it doesn't sound that tame, might not be the quickest thing at the strip but I'll bet it blasts 'round the bends nicely!

I had a stock one of them about 10 years ago (same age, same engine). The only mods being stiffer suspension and a more vocal exhaust!!

It was an awesome hoot and more than adequate at making a few XR3i type drivers look suitably embarassed.

With the extra bits that yours has, it must be an even bigger hoot!! thumbup Love it.

but why did you get rid of the lovely orange and brown velour enterior that it will have had hehe

i couldn't possibly think!

luckily my mk 1 Cavalier has a black dash with a fetching beige interior, though you can get them with red, beige or blue dashboards... what were you people that were alive in the 70's thinking of!?!

*incase that last sentence made you think, the astra is 2 years older than me!

Err, isn't your car from 1982?

Oh no, you're a bloke !

At least I was right about the year, I've got an X reg Capri so it was easy plus I lived thro' the 70's - Life on Mars

That is a very cool car!

As i'm sure you can tell, i too am a big fan of 70's-80's Vauxhall's, and i think it is excellent the way Vaux designed the XE so it will fit so easily into the older cars makes them a lot more fun.

just a squint at your profile.. get started on that cavalier Man!!

Stunning Vauxhall mate!!I prefer the older vaauxhalls to the new ones, they tend to have something more special about them.
