Hi there

Well some of you may know me from Mustang UK Owners club and OcUK or better know as www.overclockers.co.uk

Anyway let me introduce you to my Mustang:-

2005 Saleen S281 Mustang - Build 666

The car started life as a basic S281 with 325BHP and 340Lb-Ft which was due to Saleen UDP's, K&N Filter, Cat-Back exhaust and Saleen tune for Octane 91 (RON 95).
After having enjoyment from the car I wanted more and started modding. I started with a CAI and SCT Tuner with a canned Octane 93 (RON 97) tune for the CAR/CAI. This made a very noticable performance improvement and lovely sound. I then fitted charge motion plates, Long Tube Headers, X-Pipe and DE-Cats along with an Octane 93 Race tune from Bamachips custom tune to my car. The end result was 385BHP and 370Lb-Ft with power the car could put all down very easily and the engine revved very freely, plus absolutely ZERO throttle lag, highly recommended. I also have a lightweight driveshaft on my car which made a noticable difference and made the car less clunky. I fitted all the mods myself apart from the Long Tube headers as I have no access to a car ramp, plus Powerstation had a nightmare fitting them as they were a bitch. But the end result and noise from these was worth it. Check out this sound clip without the supercharger fitted:-
www.dazshardware.com/PICT0002.AVI

Then I still wanted more, so it was time for the supercharger!!
I did plenty of research and the best seems to be the twin screw ones and Saleen come as the most recommended and they have who are know as the best tuners in the US - www.teamjdm.com who really know how to tune a Saleen powered car. Their own vehicle is at 700BHP on stock internals which has been up and down the drag strip a few hundred times, so from that alone these guys know what they doing. Plus the host of their customers which is now over 500 running between 450-550 RWHP (at the wheels) without issues on their kits/tunes.

So I went for it and with the help from several members of modular fords I fitted the Saleen supercharger myself, see here for pictures and my progress:-
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/show

I am very happy with how the motor has transformed, I can now break the rear-end loose easily in 2nd which is fun but is also a pain at times which is mainly due to having 400Lb-Ft at just 2000rpm with it peaking at 510Lb-Fts around 4600rpm. The car is making 532BHP at 5900rpm and fuelling is perfect upto 6800rpm.
Obviously to fit the supercharger previous NA mods such as the Saleen UDPs, Charge Motion plates, CAI were all removed. I also removed the De-Cat pipes as they caused trumpeting sound which basically sounds like your firing an UZI out the side window. So needless to say I am very happy with 532BHP which is also a conservative tune from JDM with less timing and tuned more for our cooler weather. Needless to say if they tuned it themselves over their in the US on their dyno with the DE-CAT pipes I am confident it would make about 480RWHP which is approx 560BHP.

My only problem now is traction in our current weather as with the Saleen having 20" heavy wheels its not difficult to spin them up. At the moment they have Pirelli PZERO ROSSO 275/40/20 tyres on the rear. I am hoping someone can point me in the direction of a more stickier tyre to go with when I change them out in around March.

Here is a picture of my dyno graph:-

I've now got a 14" Shelby GT500 brake kit on the way which I managed to pick up for the cracking deal of $675 +shipping which is about £400!

Hi there

Some more pictures of mine:-

Also from some datalogging I did with the laptop attached when I fitted the supercharge to make sure things were running OK I was able to work out my in-gear acceleration times in 3rd gear (5-speed box with tall gears, so my 3rd is similar to most cars 4th). Due to my 20" wheels and still been on the stock 3:55 gears my car tops out in 3rd at about 117-120mph.
30-50mph = 1.80s
40-60mph = 2.45s
50-70mph = 2.66s
60-80mph = 2.60s
60-100mph = 5.15s
35-118mph = 10.48s

Those were all done in 3rd with my foot to the floor. In comparison an EVO FQ-400 takes 14.92s to go from 40mph to 120mph through the gears, thats 2nd, 3rd and 4th. I did the same just using 3rd in 10.48s so am pretty happy. No doubt using 2nd will see a sub 10s result, so I have no doubt the Supercharger has done truly great things to the car. Makes me only wonder what it would do with a set of lightweight 17/18" wheels, as the 20" wheels are very heavy which hurt performance but they do look ace?

I've owned the car nearly a year now and spent a lot of time researching my mods for this car and as such have learnt a lot about the current Mustang. So if anyone has questions or help then feel free to ask and I shall do my best to assit.

Great looking car.
Prefer the rear end way more than the standard car. The power as well, blimey. Saw my first Saleen Mustang at Santa Pod and fell in love with it there and then.
Top marks to you.bow

that looks fantastic! the phrase with the words "the dogs" and "bollox" came to mind when i saw the 'stang!
love these Saleen, Roush etc kits. they make the 'stang look so much more aggressive than the standard car.

By golly have you asked the right question of the right person

In nutshell, public make a donation to charity at an event for a passenger ride in your car
Usually 10 miles on the Queen's highway (have done tracks before but . . .)
I'm going to update everything and ask to put on PH, in the mean time www.sportingbears.org.uk
Thanks for asking

Old but gives facts www.sportingbears.org.uk/DreamRides/sbmc_eventsDreamRidePressRelease.htm

Fantastic car, i love it.

Not the type of car you usually associate with seeing on UK roads, and modded ones are even rarer. Very impreissive indeed!! Take good care of it

Have had it doing around 155mph in 4th gear on an airfield, got there very quickly, the acceleration just shows no sign of slowing.

5th is geared for 240mph as its very tall to get MPG on the motorway, I suspect realistic top-end would be 175-185mph as the car has the power for it but the aero-dynamics on the Mustang are very poor causing a lot of drag.

I was hoping you wouldn't reply to this as 'the young people of today' seem think that driving and cars are only about top speeds and 0-60

Of course I could be wrong with Sharief
