ok have been posting on here for a while but just remembered that i hadnt posted any pics of the project so here goes.

off the road now for winter mods will post more pics as an when the mods happen.

Spec:
Vw golf gti 8v shell with corrado wide track front and power steering,vr6 2.8 bored to 2.9 with low comp forged pistons, emerald management, uprated arp bolts etc,330cc injectors (might need bigger ones soon though)one off inlet manifold, blue flame 3" downpipe and system, garret ported gt30 turbo, one off forge front mount intercooler,
uprated engine mounts,ap paddle clutch,tar-ox six pots front uprated discs and pads rear, eibach anti roll bars, corrado h+r coil overs, porsche 928 s2 wheels,mk3 golf dash, half roll cage, negaro blue paint.

I think thats everything but probably not laugh

anyway power is around 300bhp with 350lb/ft of torque and yes it uses the standard gearbox and diff.

Hello.

I can't see the pics where I am, but it sounds rather interesting!

Do you know of the 3.2 VR6 engined MK2 by storm development? It made 490bhp on the dyno day I went to! Check out my blog http://blog.pentoman.com there's a post about it there..

hadn't seen footage of it before but it has the audi version of the r32 lump in it + a vortex supercharger dont think its running quite that much power though but still i guess if you believe that most rolling roads are accurate then so be it,theres a lot of bull in the v-dub world! Mine acctually made more than that on the rollers but i adjusted it to take out the overestimated factor.still it looks like a lovely car but i bet its a beast to drive i know mine is!

It is not a vortech, its a rotrex, and it DOES make 490hp, rolling roaded 3 times in 2 weeks on 3 different sets of rollers and made very similar power every time.

Ahh, saw the blue mk2 at the 'ring in May last year, was there in blue R32 Golf.

Didn't someone from one of the mags own it ages ago?

My mk2 has NA VR power now, wouldn't go back to a 4 pot!

sorry there has been no replies, forgot that i'd posted on here to answer some of the questions yes the car was featured in max power back in 98 when it was normally aspirated and it was owned by mat turner of the golf magazine who had it turbo'ed etc,i have spent a large wad of cash on it since then though and it hasnt really been on the road that much since.

how come so little power? 2.9 litres and GT30 should be more like 400bhp, are the rods too weak or something?

Its a combination of things but yes it does use the standard rods so boost is limited to around a bar, have had detonation issues but hope to resolve these with water injection set-up and a few other tweeks including some more work on the map,the car however is already dangerous 360lb/ft 950kilos fwd and no lsd!!!!!!!!!

Thats sounds fun time for a LSD with that going through the front wheels. I have the same limitation on my engine rods are apparently only good for 260bhp so i'm currently runnnig a safe 210bhp @10psi on a GT2860RS. Saying you've got det issues are you getting enough fuel, the injectors seem on the small side my calculations put you over 95% duty cycle to get 300bhp with 330cc ones.

Yeah the injectors are near the limit but there rated at 3bar and im running nearer 4bar pressure so they might be ok for a bit more power we shall see its not a problem getting some 440's or something close to that anyway! The guy that mapped it last time said that the injectors had some flow left but i'll be playing it safe
