For the last year or so I've been building a Sylva Riot. It's almost finished just got fit the Emerald ECU and get the engine running properly. I'm looking at the beginning of feb for the SVA.

It uses a Ford 1.7L Puma engine mounted at the rear with the standard Puma gearbox. The front uprights are modified Capri with standard disc brakes. At the rear a pair of modified Fiesta front hubs are used with a Fiesta disc and Sierra Calipers. Adjustable coil overs all round with the front shock absorbers mounted inboard.

The engine is expected to deliver around 140Bhp on a car that weighs 475Kgs. Pretty quick, 0 to 60 around 5.5 seconds.

I've got a build website for it as well you can go to it here. www.r1ot.com

Here's some pictures. I'll get some better ones outside when the hurricane stops.

Very nice job by the looks of it. Should go very well with the Puma engine

One small question...Presuming they are toggle switches in front of passenger on the dashboard, can they still be reached by the driver with the harness on?

I can reach the switches with the harness on. I've got long arms and the cockpit is very narrow, not a fat mans car!

engine in the rear is an interesting idea.

is the front shorter than a normal lotus or caterham? if not, then what is in it? fuel tank?

All looks good apart from the arse.

Still, stunning from the front. Really suits yellow though. Good show sir!

Unfortunately it's now in bits as the engine refused to start on cylinders 2 and 3 and then started churning out unburnt fuel out of the exhaust and flames out of the intake.

Engine is now being totally rebuit ground up so hopefully by the end of this month the damn thing will be working again. I'm heading out later to pick up the £400 worth of parts I ordered for the rebuild. So much for SVA'ing it next wednesday.

engines only need three things to run spark, fuel and compression. I wasn't getting compression. It wasn't the rings so it had to be a stuck valve. Since I had the engine out and it's a pain to remove I decided to overhaul it completely so it wouldn't ever need to be again.

It turns out the people I bought the engine from have a habit of leaving them out in the rain for long periods so things get jammed up a bit. Someone else who also bought their engine from the same people also had the same problem.
