respray. Can anyone recommend a good bodyshop in the E Mids with experience of GRP ? My Elan's got some crazing at the corners of the doors and is generally looking a bit sorry for itself.

Good Call.

Amongst everything else, Twink could do with a blow over too.

Anyone know anyone good in the Camb's area with experience of corroded sheet steel?*

*other than me.

I'm not from that area so I can't help you, but unless your Elan was sprayed recently (last 10 years) it is almost certainly sprayed with cellulose paint (not modern two packs). Depending on the type of finish that you require, you may well want to contact a fibre-glass specialist (out of the Lotus Owners Club) or maybe someone like Adrian Venn at Exactly TVR, Coventry could help.

People who come highly recommended for Lotu's are Miles Wilkins (Arundel) and Robin Alabaster (Berks), they will restore your Lotus to factory fresh with sympathy to the original materials, neither will be cheap or very quick.

You can get away with mixing two-packs and Cellulose but they have different characteristics and after time the car may appear different (does depend on colour).

I think a lot depends on your budget, timescale and whether you ever want it done again in your lifetime!

The car's had a lot of work, but not much to the body for 15+ years. It was resprayed in cellulose IIRC and it really needs a total strip and respray. I've heard good things of Fibreglass Services, but I can't find current contact details (the ones LOC gave me were wrong ) Anyone got any details ?

Hi,
I was enquiring about a respray and Sincairs in London seem to have a very good rep. A few people I have spoken to speak very highly of them so I gave them a call. Really easy to speak to and willing to go into detail about what they do etc.

They were happy to give me a rough price and break it down for me over the phone as we chatted. Came across very professionaly. Their number is on their website -www.sinclairebodyshop.co.uk
They specialise in Lotus, got to worth a call if nothing else.
