...but we both ended up feeling a bit sick because the speeds and g-forces the car can pull are just extraordinary. On the A70 down through Lugar and Muirkirk the car felt fantastic, a good bit more composed than the S2000 ever felt. The quick direction changes right before Abington were simply astounding.

But then we got to Wanlockhead (1531ft above sea level!) we both felt a bit green around the gills. The gut wrenching corner speeds had taken their toll. We stopped at Leadhills to give our heads a rest from the screaming engine in the back for a while (sound proofing, my arse), and took some more pics. I took it much easier on the way back.

Oh, and if anyone else fancies taking the same road (B797 I think) watch out for sheep!

I've pimped the pics on pretty much every other forum on the universe (well 3), so thought I'd stick them on here too.

Nope it's a good old standard Hethel plate.

Sheep round our parts tend to be referred to as "bollards", so we usually try and snap a few (that we haven't hit) when we're out and about.

Nice scenery, great roads, fantastic car.

How does the straightline speed of the Lotus compare to the S2000?

It's actually superior to my S2K till about 130mph by quite a margin. But after that, it's pretty much the same to the big 150. The gearbox in the S2K is still the best I have used on any car. I hear the 111R one is a vast improvement over the older Elise ones, but it's still a long way off the S2K's.

Watch some in-car videos of an S2K on track to see how quick the change is!

On the motorway above 130mph the S2K is the more comfortable car, but everywhere else the Elise is in a different league.
