I have had the pleasure to drive this great V6 Golf for a year.

This has only been spoilt by an intermittent, but very loud graunching sound coming from the wheel arches, which apparently is due to failed bushes - having replaced both front & rear anti-roll bar bushes, I understand they have failed again, and are just not up to the job.

Has anyone else experienced this?
Any ideas most Welcome!

Cheers

Can you get aftermarket polyurethane replacements?

Loud graunching?

Can't see failed ARB bushes doing that, I have a 1.8T but with the 4wd front ARB/strut setup. Knackered ARB bushes showed with a loud clonk on potholes more than anything.

Is there a particular time it happens? Cornering, dips in the road etc..

Well it varies between a graunching, and something more like a squeeky mattress springs - it is generally most notable over speed bumps (even at low speed), or on undulating A roads - ie. when the shocks are being worked.

Any advice on non-standard bushes?

I've got standard ones but I have had really good results previously from powerflex bushes.
