MK3 Golf (raw deal?)
Discussion
Hello
I've recently purchased a Mk3 Golf Gti 8v. Its a great car and cheap aswell. Since the arrival of the mk5 the mk3 really doesn't have a place in the market. For high performance you go for a Mk1 or 2 and mod it. Or for comfort a mk 4 or 5. That means for people with a budget like me the mk3 is a great buy!!
Mine is a Dragon Green 3 door with 55k and highline interior (air con and leather).
For 2 k thats alot of car for your money. It also has the same sus as a VR6 which given the light engine is awesome!!!
Anyone agree?

To be honest mate I found the 8 valver to be a dog. I used to travel 70 miles a day in one, and although it was comfy and classy at the time, it was no hot hatch even when first released. My friend later upgraded to the 16v MkIII GTI which I still maintain was one of the best hot hatches of the era - a far better car and much rarer.
This is all IMO of course.

We had a 16v Mk3. It was quick, but didn't handle all that well. It was replaced by an Alfa 156 that communicated to the driver sooooooooo much better.
The Golf was also plagued by faults, mainly electrical (immob, alarm, windows, sunroof).
Not a bad car, but there is better out there. Still, for £2k......
