Newbie - pics of car and hello
Discussion
Hi,
Just joined the forum after a fantastic 1st trip to LeMans where i saw loads of you guys with your "stickered up" motors. I'm a member of a few other forums but i thought it was high time i joined up here. Anyway, heres a couple of pictures of my car
Black Saab c900 T16s, 1992 model - last of the line classics. Complete with full leather and suede interior, Air Con, cruise control and electric everything.
What it looked like when i bought it 2 years ago
What it looks like now
At castle Combe track day
The car is/was 185bhp as standard running approx .85 bar of peak boost. It is now running 1.2 bar peak boost with an MBC and has been de-catted. I have also re-done the suspension (lowered slightly as well), brakes, fitetd a decatted 3"Jt exhaust and altered the car comsetically with clear front and tinted rear lights, 16" saab wheels etc. Paint is all original. It also has a shorter ratio box than was standard (due to blowing the previous one up on return from the Monaco GP last year) and i would estimate the car to have at least 220bhp with this set up. It certainly surprises a few of the moderns! There is no doubt the car has cost me loads but as the recent trip to LeMans proved it can still turn heads like a supercar in the right envirnonment.
I have a degree in Car design and am currently doing a masters degree in Automotive journalism at Coventry University. Big passion for Saabs (don't ask!) and a general petrolhead. Looking forward to lurking around here a bit more - and maybe meeting some of you guys at future meets or trackdays.
Oh and hello to Nicecupoftea ( A fellow Saab c900 T16s owner)

Some mates have called it Thor (as in "Thor the Turbo" ) in the past - a name i've been happy to endorse as to me it conjours up images of Swedish vikings and gods of thunder. A bit like the car really - a bit of a brute!
Recently the name "Darth Vader" has come up as well.
As for my one ex-mate trying to call it "nigel the nine hundred" - well he can just off!

Well - quick replies on here aren't there - i'm used to smaller forums where it usually takes longer to get a reply. Anyway, thanks for the welcomes guys.
If anyone wants to see any more photos of my car and other related pics look at:

Oh and i forgot to mention - it's my first and only car...

Hey Si - glad i made it over here too. All thanks to seeing so many PH'ers cars at LeMans.
Lightningghost - nice to meet you as well. You say you are hoping to do the car design course that i did - which one are you thinking of. Reason being most expect the degree to have been done at Coventry university (where i'm currently studying my masters in auto journalism) but i actually did my degree at Northumbria University in Newcastle. Having spent a year (well nearly) in Cov i'm glad i didn't do my car design degree here. If you want any advice or info about anything to do with car design and especially the merits and failures of the 3 courses we have feel free to email me.
Heavysoul - Auto journalism at Cov or Cardiff? Beginning to feel like a career counsellor! Seriously though - Cov and Cardiff give you totally different qualifications. Cov is masters and AFAIK Cardiff is some sort of diploma. I know which i'd rather have! Anyway, you want some more info - email me as well. Happy to help.
Car Mac and Davi - thanks for the compliments. You got the idea of the look - subtle but intersting all the same. Don't like cars that are OTT - prefer them to be a bit "sleeper" The Saab certainly does that - most just think its an old saab that looks funny (well not everyone has tatse!) and have no idea that its is so fast/powerful/handles so well etc.

Eric
I have already met Saabine - on the internet at least (never in the flesh).
Can i just say i love your car and am eminently(sp?) jealous of the power figures you are running on it.
Oh and nice wheels.

P.S. Look out for an email over the next few days - i'm after some career advice!

When is the national? I have been really caught up at work lately. If it's in the Midlands maybe I can drag my dad/brother along with a c900 vert or CSE 2.3T...?
Will be up in the Midlands in the next month or two anyway to get my (other) spare APC from John and to get my a/c fixed - will definitely let you know as it would be good to meet up
