Okay - so I'll admit it, I'm an addict. A car addict. Over the last 10 years I've owned the following:
1. 1966 MGB - Chrome wheels, updated SPAX suspension, awful brakes, great fun on a decent B road
2. 205 GTi - great car, unfortunately spoiled by crazy exhaust system that made your ears bleed at any revs <4000 rpm, and a immobiliser that cut the engine from me crossing a roundabout in front of an HGV - scary moment... rapidly replaced with...
3. 306 XSi - decent runabout - but lacked soul of 205, competent but didn't quite put the grin on your face that it's predecessor did
4. Minari kit car - built using Alfa 33 1.7 16V engine and gearbox. Bit like a mini-TVR, 200 BHP/ton, impossible to get into or out of looking cool
5. Golf Mk3 VR6 - silver with black leather, one of my favourite engines. Bought after leaving house to buy bread and milk! Great car until some muppet crashed into me whilst I was stationary at a roundabout
6. Golf Mk4 1.8T GTi - kept the longest I've ever had a car - almost 3 years Darn those company car schemes! Needed a bit more oomph so decided to import an...
7. Audi S3. Top Tip - buy it in Germany, save £6k over UK list price and get to drive it back on the Autobahn. Eventually bottled it at ~145 mph / 250 kmph, despite the fact it was pulling strongly in 6th gear. Suspension too hard for UK back roads - almost bounced off the road...
8. BMW330D manual - 184 BHP. Great walls of torque!! 40 mpg true wolf in sheeps clothing... Only traded up to my dream car....
9. 996 Carrera 4... truly awesome, when it worked. Porsche reliabilty?!?! All this from an Official Porsche Dealer. Unfortunatley one of their Friday cars, satin silver metallic, should have been bright yellow to match 'Lemon' status... Dream shattered, returned quickly to...
10. BMW330d - yeah I know, safe choice. Kept it for 18 months until every other car I spotted seemed to be a 3 series...
11. Audi A4 3.0 Quattro Sport convertible - Summer Madness... decent with the roof down, but heavy, slow and thirsty compared to last few cars. Not particularly involving to drive...

Don't want to think how much ££ I've blown over the last few years!!

Looking for Car #12. Any suggestions?
Currently thinking about Mk5 Golf GTi or R32, 5 door, possibly DSG...

Anyone else out there as nuts as me in terms of changing your cars? Is there a cure? ;-)

haha nice one, yep the old mrk 3 VR6's were awesome & I had a 205Gti way back which I bought for £400 to sell for £900! I've not owned that many interesting cars, but I've driven a heck of a lot of cars! At least 100 different cars... One of my fav has to be the new E Class (us mates tend to hired out a lot of cars!) Which I clocked up 900 miles over the weekend, brillant drive...never got tired of it, triptrontic gearbox & fuel was excellent even though it was a petrol!

We hired out 4 Saab 93's two weeks ago, 3 of them was the 1.8t & I had the 2.0t... Cars looks sexy, the 2.0 lump with the light pressure turbo was amazing for a 2.0 lump! Drives really nice & overall I thought it was v.good!

What about an Audi A4 Quattro? Don't get the mrk 5 Gti! I could go on all night but here are my two for you, considering what you brought in the past & what I am guessing you wanting!

Thanks for the suggestions Abz! I'll steer clear of the A4 quattro - pretty much the same as I have now, but with a roof The E class is an interesting choice - but I've got friends who have had a nightmare with build quality and endless factory recalls... Currently thinking about a Mark 4 Golf R32... Spotted someone else in the forums has just bought one, so I'll drop them a note to see what they think ! Cheers

That's a great list! I'm suprised you didn't find the 306 XSI so entertaining though, my GTi-6 never fails to put a smile on my face, and I didn't think their set ups were all that different...

What an interesting collection! Shame about the 996 though! I risk getting flamed here but..... I've always hankered after a 993 (last of the air cooled - and IMHO "proper" 911s)

Anyway here goes my rather diverse selection
1) 86 Pug 205 XL (died)
2) 94 Mazda MX5 (ran for 5 yrs then sold)
3) 95 Pug 306 XL (sold)
4) 93 Metro GSa (sold after my wife scared the sh*t out of me in it!)
5) 95 VW Golf GTi 8v(p/x for #7)
6) 96 Subaru Impreza WRX STi V4 555 edition (sold)
7) 89 Mazda RX7 Turbo II (still have)
8) 84 LHD Mazda RX7 gen1 (bought as project, sold as a runner)
9) 82 Mazda RX7 (sold)
10)80 Mazda RX7 (bought as project - sold unfinished)
11)00 Ford Puma 1.7 (still have - daily driver)

'83 Mini 1380cc (MG Metro engine bored out)
'90 MG Maestro - first proper car - when I say proper I mean 100hp+
'87 205 GTi 1.9 - this was about the time insurance went silly on hatches, hence the next car:
'90 Civic 1.4GL - quite nippy actually, I think it was twin carbs?
'91 CRX VTEC - the fastest I have ever been in a car was in this little monster, an indicated 143 leptons.
'91 Accord Auto - I needed a cheap runabout
'91 205 1.9 GTi
'96 106 1.5 Diesel. Nope, I dunno what I was thinking either.
'97 106 GTi.
'96 Civic VTi hatchback.
'01 Z3 3.0i
'01 Pontiac Trans Am WS6. Stone age tech but 350hp
'02 Saab 93 Aero Stage 2.
'02 S2000.

Bikes:
'84 Kawasaki Z550. It was cheap.
'93 Kawasaki KR1-S. It was quick.
'89 Suzuki RG500. It was very quick.
'88 FZR250R. It was cheap.

Including company cars:

Polo 1.0 - cheap student days hang-over it took me a long time to get round to binning
Golf GTi Mk 2 - what a car
Lancia Beta Spyder - wow what a car; still have it
Lancia Fulvia - Hoot-tastic; if anyone offers you one, bite their hand off
Rover 218SD - how did they get away with it?
Peugeot 405 STDT - and you think that the french make interesting cars....
Citroen Xantia Activa - unpleasantly odd
Saab 900 - pleasantly odd
Vauxhall Omega 2.0 CD - 10 weeks was too long
Saab 9-3 - amazing how you can dress a Vectra up
Fiat Barchetta - great fun - shame the ex-wife nicked it really...
Saab 9000 - staggeringly competent
Bentley Mulsanne Turbo R - it proved that there were worse cars than the Rover 218SD
Porsche 911 Targa - what a gem; why did I sell it?!
Porsche 993 - still my baby
Shogun - great for wadi-bashing
Audi A8 - larger than my flat and much more expensive to run
Jeep Cherokee - cheaper than a garden shed

CBR600 - I tired of staring up at the paramedics
Ducati Monster - because I'm sure of my sexuality
Mercedes S Class - for playing the plutocrat

15. Tend to hold on to cars rather than trade. Have had 'short-term custody' (which is usually enough to get something out of my system) of many more.

Currently got 7 with more on order. I'll stop at 10. I think.

Wow - some serious lists out there !! It looks like I have a lot of catching up to do... I'd better check out those classifieds! Looks like my list is fairly normal - but there's obviously no cure for the addiction!

Anyone want to p/ex a Mk4 5-door Golf R32 for a A4 3.0 Quattro Sport Convertible
