RE: b5641's Honda CRX VTEC

Aahh Celestial Blue!
I had one of these and it was absolutely fantastic to own and drive. When you were on it over a twisty road using all the revs it really was a scream - those early VTEC systems responded like flicking a switch!
I'd love another one as a winter car but they're becoming few and far between in an original state.

Bloody great cars, I bought one of the first 1.6i-16s in 1987 after reading all about them in Mags like Fast Lane and the test drive gobsmacked me at the time(I was 22). Kept it for 3 years and 65000 miles with no probs whatsoever. Bought a new shape in 1990 with one of my greatest memories being driving out of the showroom in my first ever new car and with the lowered suspension and 195/50-15s with Mim alloys I had fitted I felt the dogs danglies. In 1993 the wife bought the first of her two CRXs (2nd hand 16v) and Iwas chuffed to bits 'cos I,d just bought my first Griff so I had the best of both worlds
Sorry about the life history but they bring back some fantastic times!

Glad that you like my car.
I was immediately hooked the first time I got one to drive (that was approx in 1998 with a 16 valves-engine, about 130 BHP, my first car).
Afterwards I got a company-car (Golf IV-TDI,Diesel) but with a lot less of driving-pleasure.
I then met a girl who had a VTEC, and after the first ride, I told myself that I had to have one of these.
So I bought this one last year in Germany (www.mobile.de) and I still love every kilometer: it has a direct steering feeling, a good response on accelaration and a good sound for a 4-cylinder ( especialy above 6000 rpm with the longer opening-times of the valve system)
In the past weeks I even had two letters in my window of people who wanted to buy the car. So apparently, there seems to be a lof of people who still like this car.
