Good evening all

Had my 997 for several years now and have included it in a few previous threads....

I tend to do all my own repair work and servicing.........alas, after a quick blast out today, i need to do sone more!!

Drove to my local cars/coffee place to watch the F1....felt a couple of odd knocks through the drivetrain. Pulled up to find the engine hanging out!

Right side mount completely sheared!

New mounts ordered - car now safely back in my garage with a jack underneath......

Also managed to damage the lambda wire as now have 02 fault.....the joys!

Wow thank God the other bolt held, can't have done it any good being at that angle and running, but I have to say that numberplate is very naughty and I'm surprised you haven't been pulled.

And the misspacing. The only way to make it worse would be to have them in "4D"

Wow, not heard of engines (nearly) falling out of cars since the Lancia Beta.

Glad you've been able to recover it. I guess the gearbox has been rotated in the dropped position, but likely ok as designed to allow for suspension/etc angles changing..

I suppose the other question is whether there's any inspection or preventative replacement that you / your garage might be do to catch this sort of thing earlier next time?

Wow, I think you had a lucky escape there!

Years ago a mate of mine sheared an engine mount on an old XR4i using too much kerb at a track day at Donington. But it drove over 100 miles home like that because the mount was still supporting the engine, unlike what your car has.

I guess that cretinous plate gets changed most years for the MOT.

Except 2023.

Repair immediately (major defects):
Front Registration plate does not conform to the specified requirements wrong spacing (0.1 (d))
Rear Registration plate does not conform to the specified requirements wrong spacing (0.1 (d))

Oh dear Ive clearly caused lots of people lots of stress with the plate.......? hope everyone is OK....try to relax.......

Good news is Ive managed to wind the old stud out and take the broken mount out. New ones (both sides) arriving tomorrow - a doddle to fit

Need a new 02 sensor for bank 2 as the wiring as stretched and thrown a code.....hopefully nothing more
