Hi All,
I've previously maintained build threads or my website for build blogging but I seem to spend most of my time on youtube these days so here's my attempt at that!

I'm early in build but seem to be keeping a weekly update to progress of my latest project which is hiding all the mechanicals and tech of a model 3 inside a 300SL Gullwing replica body.

Here's a link to my youtube playlist:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbbDu1jIUic&li...

So far I've stripped it down and got the shortened chassis/battery driving again as well as relocating the seats/pedals/steering to the back to suit the new cabin position.

Hope this is of interest!

Cheers,
Rich

PS Don't expect any fancy editing or effects, this is purely me with my phone showing progress...

I've just binged through all the episodes on the project and with progress so far seems to be really good! Loving how "easy" you make it appear to dismantle and shorten the Tesla. Keep it up!

Out of interest, how does insurance and tax work when you have basically built your own car.

The conversation with the call centre folk must be interesting or I presume you use a more specialised insurer smile

What an interesting project clap

Just a word of warning though, Merc has a history or vigorously pursuing copies for copyright infringement. Not sure whether this has only ever been folks selling them or includes private builds too.

PH reported on a case a few years ago.

I'd hate to see it get crushed, because it's a cool project.

You might want to check and in case you need to kill this thread.

Very old news, doesn’t seem to be an issue in recent years, I’ve seen reference that their design patent ran out?

I’m sure it won’t be an issue with any of the numerous kit car insurers. I’ll be putting it through IVA so it will get an age related reg and identity..
