Land Rover: Range Rover P525 Autobiography (L405)
Discussion
It has taken me at least 2 years to make up my mind on what is going to replace my daily Mercedes Benz CL500.
Contenders were:
Bentley Continental GT, BMW 7 Series V8 or V12. Audi S8, Mercedes Benz S Class Coupe/ Convertible.
I thought about what I enjoyed driving the most…. Apart from my Silver Shadow I think it is our FFRR L322.. that’s our go to for almost anything…
2018 L405 P525 Autobiography was my final choice.
As with some of my other cars I’ll document it on here so we can see over time the ownership experience and the associated costs.
Delivery is not until early May… so no photos until then!

This is a one owner car and she specified it to perfection in terms of colour, materials and options. Very similar to our L322 TDV8 in that regard....
Feeling a little profligate now with two Range Rovers... we cannot let go of the L322, it is too good. I am sure I will do some future posts comparing the two.
I have a trip to Oxford and Henley in Arden tomorrow let's see how it performs.

We know a couple of 2 Range Rover households. This is exactly how it happens, buy one, keep the old one as it's still working and the new one is too good for dogs / tip / beach. This is a one owner car and she specified it to perfection in terms of colour, materials and options. I suspect when we buy the next one it will become 'hers' and the SDV8 with >100k miles will become 'his'.

I think an L405 will eventually replace my L322, which is a Black Edition Autobiography, 4.4 TDv8, leather everything...including headlining. In 15 months of ownership it's cost me £200 in repairs.Currently it's on 161k miles and it's as sweet as a penny!
They are such a calming and relaxing car.
Congratulations on the purchase, it looks lovely.

You keep a Range Rover like that!

We're now on day 5 and I have had the chance to throughly test this FFRR.
Trip up to Oxfordshire then on to Henley in Arden.
Quite unusual sensation having this much power at this height.
The engine is whisper quiet but during hard acceleration you can get the faintest of growls out of it..
On cruise at around 73mph for 40 miles on the M40 the trip computer was claiming 29.7 mpg
You can see it parked here at my friends home where I could compare with his 2013 L405 (Not pictured here).
Very pleased with the colour ... its very changeable kind of grey but sometimes brown even a bit bronze....

Lovely XJS there

Back down to Surrey and I could park it next to our L322 at the Marina.
Smaller boot on the L405 I think mainly due to all the motors and gubbins on the rear seats ( Recline, heating, cooling, massage etc). I might be imagining it, will measure.
Mrs C drove me into the village for some supplies.... straight out the box she curbed both driver side alloys... ouch... these are 22 inch alloys so have less rubber side wall than she's used to.
Returned to Kent still returning around 25mpg on average.
More photos to follow on the interior.
