Following the death of my friends dad, rather than her going through the hassle of trying to sell dads car, she transferred it to me.
So, as I name most of my cars, say hello to Uncle Fester.

As Fester hadn't been driven for a while, the tyres were flat and the battery was completely dead. A window had been left open, there was mould on the steering wheel and some sort of green plant-life growing in the doors. Plus lots of cobwebs.

Pumped tyres, got it running, went through Tescos finest car-wash and took it for an Italian tune-up along the A14. It has no air-co, no cruise control, no satnav, no sun roof, but does have keep fit windows, It also has a strange musty smell. It actually drives pretty well for a 20 year old Fiesta, and feels like I'm doing 100mph at 40mph.
The plan is to give it a bit of a service and throw some new tyres on it then sell it and give the money to the family of the recently deceaseds dad, although they have said they don't want any money. That wouldn't sit well with me.

I was hoping to read this will be the outcome, good work! I used to love turning cars like this around, you can do wonders on them in a day with a few products and graft.

Time for Uncle Fester to have a health check.
But not before the most important item.

Instantly 30mph faster!
After a brief spin around the block to warm things up.....
Hmmm, what have we here?

It all looks fairly straightforward.
And underneath? I've seen better but definitely seen worse.

I like a nice, easily accessible oil filter, even if it IS rusty AF!
So, drop the oil
Which looks like it hasn't been done for a while.
And while thats draining, time for some new lungs.
The air filter box is attached with only two bolts.
But to split the box requires removal of ten bolts.

Spot the difference.

Oil filter removal.
As with most things in life, its always easier if you use the proper tool.

While thats draining, I'll do the plugs.
Not too bad, but new plugs are always good anyway.

As it says in the Haynes manual, re-assembly is the reversal of disassembly. Or something.
Time to top-up.[url]

And we're done.
It's always a slight worry but he started just fine. Will check levels and leaks in a mo, but all done. I managed to retain all my fingers, toes and eyes, and didn't even break anything.
Gratuitous multi car shot.
