Rear engined coupe, not a Porsche
Discussion
Writing the title made me wonder how many rear engined coupes have existed. I got 911 (obviously), some Alpines, Delorean, Fiat / Abarth versions of the 850. There must be more.
But this is none of those. Its Japanese, made in the '80s and sold here in reasonable numbers. But they are now firmly in the category of 'rare but nobody gives a s
t'. And only a handful remain. It's a car I've had a yearning to own and got outbid on one at auction many years ago. More recently I contacted a seller on FB, we agreed a price and then he blocked me...
So I broke the first rule of car buying and bought one sight unseen.

If you are still confused, it's a Suzuki SC100.

I know it's an obvious one but the first that jumps to mind for me is the Skoda 130 Rapid.
They did a 135 as well, not sure of the difference.Plus Karmann Ghia and VW Type 3. And isn't there an oddity from behind the iron curtain with a V8 in the back?? ETA Tatra 603!!
Love oddities like the OP's.

First time even hearing about these, and the above is all I gets!? We demand more details! But this is none of those. Its Japanese, made in the '80s and sold here in reasonable numbers. But they are now firmly in the category of 'rare but nobody gives a s

The PH knowledge of rear engines coupes is impressive!
More about the car - it's just 6in longer than a (original) mini, but narrower and shorter. Weight is a svelte 650kg. Power is a heady 40something bhp. I've not driven it yet, so can't comment on how these numbers translate into performance. But have set my expectations low & may yet be disappointed.
Another pic, I never planned on owning 2 orange cars.

Just to add, the reason I've not driven it is the collection took all day, despite only being 40mins from my house. I'd borrowed a friend's trailer.

You may spot the flat trailer tyre. So had to change that (the suzuki toolkit proved invaluable!). And then the inevitable happened.

Rear engined coupes, it turns out, are quite common!
Condition wise, the SC is quite good. Haven't had a proper crawl around under it yet, but aside from a couple of scabs it looks ok. Obviously it's had some rust repairs already (even though it's done less than 20k miles from new).
I dont think the size was apparent in the other pics, here it is next to a Fabia.
