Alfa Romeo Giulia - 2.0T Veloce
Discussion
I have had this for coming upto 4yrs now so felt its time to post about some of the things I've done during my ownership. They are great cars in my opinion and are a rare sight on our roads, which is a shame.
I'll let the only professional photos in my possession start things on a high note:

I needed 4 doors, i wanted to stay with RWD, I didn't want to get fleeced for tax (so 2017 onwards pref) but i didn't want the default BMW choice.
I narrowed it down to either a Jag XE or an Alfa Romeo Giulia. (I would have loved a quadrifoglio but they were double what i could afford).
So in May 2021, enter the Veloce:

1 owner, returned at the end of a finance deal and then auctioned off to the dealer i bought from. Perfect.
The car has changed a bit during my ownership as you can tell between these 2 lots of pics.
19" quadrifoglio alloy wheels and new tyres, an OEM optional LSD (that mine was lacking), induction kit, remus backbox exhaust, ZF8 gearbox and engine remap, new brakes, and then culminating in the Donington trackday pics you see above.
However that 2024 track-day highlighted the brakes weren't up to the job on the straights so I've since changed them again. With the help of some spacers on the caliper>hub bolts its now got 350mm rear discs from the quadrifoglio on the front, replacing the OEM 330mm discs, paired with a set of EBC Bluestuff pads:

My eBay habit also uncovered a damaged quadrifoglio carbon bonnet which needed repairing and painting. Less weight than mine was, and may aid cooling:

And that brings us up to present. Hopefully another trackday in the near future and more years of enjoyment!
Cheers

Absolutely perfect timing.
Exactly the push I need to restart my search for one of these.
I’m on the same page as you too. The alternative is the Jag XE 3.0.
Tell me your thoughts on why you picked the Alfa over the Jag and how you’re finding costs, dealership experience and general day to day habits.
Ps. Lovely Alfa, best colour, number 1 for me with Stromboli a close second

Cheers all for the kind words.

The rarity and little things like prefering the column mounted paddles of the Alfa for example. But it was mainly a case of finding the right car in the right spec at the right price really. I haven't used a main dealer so I cant comment on that, not many left around. Servicing and MPG all seems very reasonable.Tell me your thoughts on why you picked the Alfa over the Jag and how you’re finding costs, dealership experience and general day to day habits.

Lovely looking car although I am biased for red! Surprised the brakes needed upgrading?
It was the pads, the EBC Red weren't up to dealing with the weight of the car on track. I don't blame them, EBC don't recommend them for track work but i just had them already waiting to be fitted so I thought new EBC was better than used OEM, which it probably was.Kawasicki said:
I love these. A friend of mine was the vehicle dynamics engineer for this car.
Is there a 2.0 litre petrol with RWD and manual in the range? In Europe (LHD)?
Yes thats correct, there is/was a manual offered in some LHD markets. ZF8 for us only though in RHD, petrol, diesel and Quad.Is there a 2.0 litre petrol with RWD and manual in the range? In Europe (LHD)?

Dealers are very mixed and meet the usual Stellantis standards - ie the good ones are moving away and the others are Ok at best. I use an Alfa specialist for my car and its pretty cost effective. Dealer pricing can be quite high even for a basic oil change service.Tell me your thoughts on why you picked the Alfa over the Jag and how you’re finding costs, dealership experience and general day to day habits.
Day to day the cars have some quirks, eg if the battery isn't in rude health the heater rear screen stops working but you can still heat the seats and the steering wheel - not sure who sorted the priorities on that! Nav etc isnt up with the latest offerings but my car has car play so no problem, and the integration is quite good.
I had one for a couple of years - Montecarlo blue with tan leather. The dark blue metallic was a stunning colour, and quite rare.
They are not blindingly fast and the engine can be a gruff but they look stunning. The handling was amazing - almost Lotus like - quite a fast rack so it was really pointy and a great B road car.
A really underrated car and a much better drive than a 330i.
Yours looks a cracking car - I never took mine on the track but I can imagine it's great fun to do so.
Thanks for the information.
I have a local Alfa specialist so I’m covered there.
What kind of mpg are you achieving?
Also your remap I’ve seen good quoted gains from Celtic Tuning but what did you achieve.
These cars hold their price well, they’re rare on the road too.
Any tips on what to look out for when buying?
