Could be a short lived thread this one.....but hey someone might find it semi interesting.

After 5 great years with a Ford Explorer Sport (7 seat, 3.5TT super wagon) it was time to treat the Mrs to something new and we've gone proper left field.

The Dodge Ram wasn't remotely on the radar. We were actually looking at 2yr old Explorer ST's (the successor to our Explorer Sport). Ford Edge Sport (the smaller version) and a variety of other motors.

We were therefore quite taken aback when we spotted a brand spanking 2025 Dodge Ram for less than the 2yr old Explorer's we'd been looking at. After a test drive we were both sold, the car felt fantastic!

The car in question is actually quite a standard spec (embarrassingly called a Big Horn haha!) but in this day and age you realistically get all the tech you ever want and being a family bus, we are not all that precious about it being plush. It comes standard with all the sensors you would expect, cameras, remote start, car play etc etc. The interior is a typical yank affair and whilst it's a tad boring it's functional and doesn't look too bad.

Engine wise, this comes with the brand new inline 6 twin turbo (Hurricane - again cheesy name!) with circa 420bhp mated to an 8spd auto. For a big truck it really moves and with little weight over the rear wheels, in 2WD it is fairly sprightly!

Plans are to get the car PPF'd because being black and on the desert is no one's idea of fun. Then we are going to tonneau cover for the bed, some storage solution and maybe some more interesting wheels.

Not your typical PH car!!

Lovely!

I've always loved pick-ups since I spent a month on a farm in 1977 with relatives who let me use their manual Ford F100 with a 5.7 litre Cleveland V8. But they wouldn't make much sense in the UK sadly.
