2017 Mercedes AMG GTS - Best bang for buck 'sports' car?
Discussion
Evening all,
Long time lurker! Thought would share my AMG which i have had around a year now after mainly having BMW M products. Always loved BMWs and ticked most off, but ever since the day the AMG GT's came out they were a realistic dream car to me and when I had the option to make it happen - it had to be done!
I specifically wanted the pearl white, as feel it shows off the shape of the car nicely. I found this at a specialist garage in south wales with a really nice spec, including the dynamic plus package (active engine & gearbox mounts) Burmester audio, pan roof etc.
Collection day!

Loved the drive home and how "special" the car felt compared to previous BMWs I had owned. It is not quite as involving to drive, but still great fun with plenty of power...but not enough!
I have always thought they sit a little awkward especially the rear end, so a few weeks into ownership fitted some lowering springs & spacers all round - as well as the updated front grill which I think made the car looks alot more aggressive.

Exterior wise I was now really happy with how it looked and sat, but felt wanted a little more power but mainly some more noise...whats the point of a V8 if you cant hear it aye?
I had it fitted with catless downpipes, upgraded intakes & interval blow off valve then "stage 2" tuned on a safe map, producing just over 600 BHP, which I feel is the perfect amount for the car, no huge traction issues but now feels seriously quick.
Some photos on a trip to Germany to the 'ring where it was faultless, achieved just under 30 MPG on the journey there while not hanging about at all. Unfortunately the weather when on the track was quite damp so was abit of a handful, but was a great experience all round - cant wait to get back in the summer.

Have never kept a car so long, as i feel they are such great value for money, it just seems pointless to spend 20/30k more to 'upgrade' it when this ticks so many boxes.
Cheers guys!

Looks great!
I recently sold mine as need money for house renovations.
I sold it a couple of months ago and im still gutted, it was the best car i have had or driven. Mine was stage 1 gad so just under 600 and was just f
king amazing.
Coming from a tvr tuscan i actually thought it was quite involving to drive (always in race, sport traction). I did one trackday and it was so f
king good, even on road tyres. Brakes struggle a bit though.....had to be super soft on them.
I would suggest taking out the secondary cats, will be slightly louder but will be deeper and the cracks you get on gear changes in race are like thunder.
