Surely only an idiot would buy a written off, modified TTS with zero history. Well, an idiot did…and his name is LEE337.

It takes a fortunate man to wait for Lee to take the risk, spend thousands, and ensure it’s now a really good example. Enter, me.

Now, some backstory; Lee and I have been good friends for the best part of 20 years and for as long as I can remember, our Whatsapp messages are akin to the Car Buying section of the forum. “What car would you get if…”. You get the gist.
We also seem to have an unwritten rule that we take each other to buy our next car, and when Lee bought the TTS it was no different. An hour an half there, look around, test drive, and I was hooked. Damn, he was buying it and not me! Fortunately, I did drive it home for him.

Meanwhile, I had been driving Vito’s for the last couple of years, ever since selling my 535d. I needed to get back into something interesting and after getting a new job, I decided to pack in the side business I had which required a van.
It’s now August, I’d just put my van up for sale and Lee happened to have a change in needs for his second car (the TTS) so I said I would like to buy it. What I didn’t plan for was a long 3 month wait to sell the Vito.

Well, the day came last week where I finally waved the Vito off to its new owner, and the next day collected the TTS. What a joy to finally be back in a car, and a sporty one at that. Luckily, the Mrs approves of it and was just as excited to collect it as I was. And of course, my 2 year old loves Daddy’s yellow car.

It’s the most powerful and quickest car I’ve owned, and it ticks pretty much all my boxes. I’ve also always hankered after a yellow car, not sure why it’s taken 18 years of driving before getting one.

Quick spec for those who haven’t read Lee’s thread:
2009 Audi TTS
Imola yellow
Manual
106k miles
A few choice mods making 355bhp and 426ft-lb

There are a few bits I’d like to do, which Lee didn’t quite get round to, but I’m in no rush for them. It’s quite a short list:

Wheel spacers
Induction kit
Colour coded seatbelts
Arm rest
Gear knob

Maintenance wise, it’s been 5 years since the last belt change, so I need to consider for that.
I’ve done very few miles in it since getting it home, so for now it’s just going to be enjoyed as much as I can until Christmas is out of the way.

Sounds like it's been well modified rather than a pile of old tat stuck on, induction kit must give it a good bit of noise too.

I'm not into the TTs but I can appreciate them and think this model was a really good update on the original design. Looks bloody excellent in that yellow though. Never seen one in that colour before.
