After 6 years with my F30 330D, I decided I needed a change of car. Due to a change in my career, I was now travelling to work on the train and the BMW wasn't making much sense anymore.

Initially I wanted the newer G20 M340i but with having a little one, the saloon boots whilst a decent size weren't that practical for holidays etc. After a few weeks of looking about I'd stumbled across a GLC43 which was only 20 miles away and seemingly great spec.

Ended up doing a deal and picked the car up last Monday and it has been awesome, the right amount of practicality and power. The only thing I'm still yet to do is recalibrate my head from diesel economy to V6 twin turbo petrol 'economy' :ROFLMAO:.

The car has around £8000 of options which include:
Premium plus package (ambient lighting, keyless go, memory package, panoramic sun roof, Burmester sound system & comand headunit)
21" wheels
360 camera
Running boards
Tow bar
Heads up display
Full proper leather seats
Obsidian Black paint

My initial plans are to have the wheels refurbished, these were touched up prior to collection but a mint set of wheels sets a car off imo. I'd like to replace the grill as the panamericana grill is an aftermarket one and the 'chrome' finish is starting to peel, tempted to go for an all black one but keep the silver emblem. The car will also be having a CarPlay MMI unit installed as it's something annoyingly which can't be activated on the higher Burmester units but can be on the base, go figure that out!

I've not had chance to get some proper photos taken yet but below is when I got my plate put on it last week.

I spent an hour or so this morning removing some choice additions the car had from collection.

Primarily some carbon paddle extensions and some carbon bits around the ignition and lighting controls.

As much as them being real carbon, they aren’t my cup of tea so they’ve all been removed this morning.

There were also a number of stickers applied to the car, just in case you weren’t sure if it was an AMG model…

So once again with a bit of heat these were removed and look far better

My next task is to remove some additional but also questionable AMG badges on the engine cover along with the carbon look wrap

That looks awesome, muscular 👍🏻 I agree about the wheels too, sets the car off.

Nice car.. seems like it may have been owned by a 12 year bit coiner !

Saying that, I remember doing ‘mods’ back to my dad’s Volvo 740 back in the day.. stripes etc .. so maybe some enthusiastic kid whose parents indulged him. At least it’s all reversible.. and will probably add value.

Very nice!
I will be needing a bigger vehicle with a baby on the way in about 6 weeks or so and one of these, an X3 M40i or a XC60 T8 are all on my list of things to go and have a look at.

What's the real world MPG like on one of these?

Around town I'd recommend not checking but on a run it's doing around 25mpg. We've got a cruise booked next year from Southampton so I'm hoping to creep into the 30s.

First fill up wasn't cheap but the car lived in sport+ mode a lot laugh

This is the exact trip I have to take once a month from Yorkshire to Southampton and have a hankering for one of these GLC 43’s. I’ve been doing the trip in an E class devil juice for the last few years and I think such a swap might make my wallet hurt for what is a pretty tedious drive no matter what the car is.

Might have to revert back to the more dull choice of a Cayenne diesel but think these look a lot more interesting in every sense.

I have a 2018 GLC 43. I think my average fuel consumption is about 25 mpg since I've owned the car, long motorways trips I usually average 30-32 mpg. Eco mode and cruise control help.

Luckily my wife has a 116d, which when driven by her returns 50mpg....I can manage 60mpg without trying too hard.

Ahh that's reassuring to know I might see a digit beginning with 3 on the longer trips. I'm a little disappointed with the Mercedes app for my phone, barely any functionality compared to the BMW the car replaced. Are you able to remotely lock/unlock your GLC?

Were you driving this on the A19 outside of Selby last Friday evening, around 5.30ish?

More than likely me, I live just north of Selby. Although I did notice a GLC63 going into Selby yesterday which looked nice.

Yeah the app is pretty rubbish, and I must admit I don't really use it. I've just tried the remote lock/unlock and it works for me.

I do miss that car - hindsight I should have kept it and banged a gearbox on when I had the time/money but it was bad timing with it having the issues just after buying my first house and needing a car for work.
