My other classic... MGR V8
Discussion
Had this a while now although not used it much, car was repatriated in 2019 with only 14000km on it, it's done around 450 miles since, it's actually done more miles at sea than it has on land ???? now my escort is done I'll likely mothball the rv8...escort is free tax and cheaper to insure plus I don't mine it picking up a bit of patina, rv8 is literally out of the box and serves very very well as garage art, I have contemplated selling it and buying an mx5 nc3 as they're just infinitely more useable, hope you like

Always loved how these things look, I remember reading a review putting one against a contemporary TVR which was, of course, miles better but I thought was rather missing the point of the MG.
What are they like to drive? Very very very retro I'd have thought, low limits but safe and fun when you get to them?

It's essentially a 60's car and drives as such, it's obviously got a few more creature comforts with the cushy leather and ac etc, 3.9 v8 is never going to get boring either, they don't suit tall people though, fits me fine luckily, What are they like to drive? I've always had a soft spot for these. I know every review when they came out was a bit negative and I'm sure it's not the most dynamic of vehicles, but as another poster said, that's sort of missing the point.
For me it's a lovely chunk of a bygone era and as someone who tends to live in the past anyway that's all right with me.
I'm sure a Mazda MX-5 beats it on every measurable metric but I'd have this every day of the week.

I've always liked these and thought about importing one from Japan to the US. I had a 73 MGB that I rebuilt about 15 years ago. It was a blast to drive on the B roads but absolutely terrifying on the motorway. I sold it when I bought my R107 500SL
I've noticed a few going to USA recently, I'm guessing they're pretty expensive over there despite only being available in rhdjamesson said:

Yeah, you're right there, tvr were faster, not sure about better but the motoring press weren't too impressed, it's a cool thing though, it always turns heads when it's out, those that know..know! eI've yet to see one MGR, but there are plenty of B's on the road, a few C's and some V8 conversions. It feels like everybody in a 1 ton truck is trying to kill you because they can't see you (and they're not paying attention).
