I finally got a full refund on my faulty volvo xc60 (see previous post)

So was left cash in hand needing a car.

Has to be AWD with a Tow Capacity of 2.5ton (we live on a farm and have horses / transport hay etc through fields)
Has to be a comfy family car - 3 teenage boys, and 2 large dogs need to fit in
Has to be reasonably economical - I drove 20000 miles per year in it for work - so also needs to be comfy.

The Volvo XC60 ticked these boxes, but on paper was a tad small and the fuel economy was pretty poor (av about 35mpg)

I didn't want a pickup - prefer a boot for family / dog duties. Dirty stuff goes in a trailer.

A 2014 Kia Sorento 2.2 Crdi KX2 ticked all the boxes, with added bonus of 7 seats. Lockable 4wd (not diff lock, but locks drive 50:50 to all wheels) useful in muddy fields with loaded trailer, horse box. Comfy to drive, heated seats, cruise etc. Had to be manual as Auto limited to 2ton towing capacity.

I picked up a 2014 plate car, 1 owner, 70K miles, FSH - and its been great for the last week. 50mpg on a run, 35 towing horses. Don't recall ever having noticed one before (since the original quite chunky ones were replaced in 2009)

Very pleased thus far........

They seem to be fairly sturdy cars, my wife’s sister had one for a few years with the only issue being broken rear door handles.
It’s pretty good going as she’s not exactly careful with vehicles or interested in maintenance.
