Never thought I’d be in this position but here goes… after 8-years of classic Subaru Impreza’s, I decided to part ways with my rare import, dip into my savings and tell myself “you only live once”. I started with what I thought was a reasonable budget but that rapidly increased the more research I did.

When this particular spec came along I was instantly sold. I HAD to have it. I wanted a PDK gearbox and for me it’s the perfect spec:

1. X73 sports chassis which does away with the active suspension (the X73 sports chassis lowers the car a little more with a little more firmness although to me it’s perfect)
2. GTS special Carmine Red paintwork
3. GTS interior (alcantara and red stitching)
4. Carbon fibre interior trim
5. Carrera S alloys in the right colour for me
6. Exterior gloss pack
7. Cruise control

Being the GTS, it comes with a host of other goodies and it has a few other options that I wasn’t too fussed about.

I’m 1 month into ownership and I absolutely love this car. It has already attracted positive attention from a number of people with comments and thumbs ups. The sound of the 3.4 flat 6 engine with the sports exhaust is intoxicating- I don’t think I’ll get bored of accelerating in Sports plus mode, taking it to 7500 rpm, then hearing those downshifts with the rev matching and crackling sounds! Although the honeymoon period is still in full swing, I think I’m a Porsche convert now biggrin

I’ll update this thread with more photos and my experience of ownership as time goes along!

I had one of these brilliant cars! That 3.4 is a peach! Did a few trackdays and Alps trips.

Just make sure the spoilers down when it's parked 😉

Absolutely loved mine. It was a manual. The most satisfying gearbox I’ve ever used.

One of my favourite things to do was second gear acceleration through tunnels, up into third and then back into second gear. Sports plus engaged and the auto blip from third to second. I can almost still hear it.

Hope you enjoy yours OP.

Thats really is a lovely spec, looks epic

Nice work beer

I tried a 944 (bought from a salvage yard about 30 years ago) and havent looked back, they do make an extremely good sports car

Stunning! What a car! Friend of mine had an identical one and it was such a great package and the 3.4 sounded divine, he sold it and bought a 991 4S - worst decision ever!

Enjoy and keep the thread updated.

Thanks for the kind words everyone! For April ‘25 a couple of friends and I are planning a driving trip to and around Wales which will be great I expect.

Other than now until then, the weather is likely not going to be great but I’m not precious about keeping it locked away in a garage for months on end so will have to find excuses to get it out and about!

Many congratulations, stunning car and PDK is also my preference, it just works so well seems to change when you would want and if just brilliant in manual mode.

I’ve had my 981 S for nearly nearly 3 years and haven’t found anything to replace it yet. I have just added wireless CarPlay via the Isudar board (from Amazon) and it is just brilliant, makes a huge difference.

Enjoy the car and make some memories!
