3rd thread this year. JDM Honda royalty inside
Discussion
Not sure I how managed to delete the OP so had to re do it.
As a small number of you may have seen this year my main hobby seems to have become starting new car threads on here. I'll start by saying there was no plan whatsoever to get rid of the FN2 Civic I currently still have, right up until a couple of weeks ago and a somewhat focused Collecting Cars advert on that there Facebook popped up, a couple of clicks later and a car I've hunkered after for quite a long time is in front of me with a load of pictures, a really through description and with a few days to go in an incredibly low price with those words that make all of us start to shake with excitement/nerves/anticipation. NO RESERVE.
A day later and I speculatively register to bid and put in a low ball 2nd bid on the car, certainly expecting it to finish in 3 days time well above the budget I could allocate to the purchase right at this moment in time. Only a tiny amount of action happens for a couple of days until the last hour of the auction where I'm 100 quid behind the current winning bid and still weighing up whether now is a good time to be buying a car (spoiler alert, using pure common sense it isn't, but this isn't a common sense situation)
40 minutes to go I commit to a more serious bid, then another when that is beaten, and another, and one 'final' attempt to get it. With 40 seconds to go I'm not winning, but sox it, I'm still within budget. Just. Let's have one final bid, put the phone away and carry on with my life safe in the knowledge I was never really going to get the car at the price I'd even slightly hoped would be possible. That was right until the text to inform me I'd been outbid never came after 10 minutes. Now this is strange because there was only 2 minutes left after I put my final bid in. Surely not...
I pickup the phone again and go back onto the website that I'll only name once. In big bold letters at the top of the page are the words 'You've Won!
If you're still reading this drivel and like Honda's then I promise you, this next bit was worth suffering my woeful attempt at writing.
The subject of this at best speculative bidding is an FD2 Honda Civic Type R. The JDM only, last of the NA Type R's, and this one has a few goodies to say the least.
Have a few pictures as a reward for suffering all that crap above
The goodies you can see are Rays TE37 SL wheels on Cup2 rubber, J's Racing carbon front bumper and carbon rear wing.
The bits you can't see include Hondata flashpro ecu, Skunk2 intake manifold, Mugen airbox, 3 inch exhaust, Ohlins coilovers znd Wavetrac LSD among other bits as well as red Recaro Pole Position seats and Takata harnesses
To sale I feel like I've stolen this car is an understatement, it's an absolute weapon while still being nice to drive sedately. This is 1000% one of my attainable dream cars ticked off the list. The only real intention is to tidy up a few small marks, maintain it and enjoy it. I just want to keep driving it!

Outstanding!
That's a cracking thing, with a great spec. I probably couldn't live with the wing and canards, for a road car, but that's neither here nor there.
Another thing - if you replace the FN2 with an EK9 or an NSX, you'd have the Honda Holy Trinity
(and yes, I'm aware I've just opened a can or worms there...!)

The only place I can go from this one is a nice facelift NSX, apparently we still need to live in a house so that one is unlikely. I have asked rhe question but the look of contempt said all it needed to say That's a cracking thing, with a great spec. Stick it on a ramp as these like to rust as you are probably well aware.
Was the reason we got rid of the one the Mrs had. Going around the filler cap and edges of the arches after only 5 years in the UK.Importers only undersealing the bits they can see being a major issue.

'Fresh import' they said (dated 2022... ) - rusting on the rear arches already but apparently fully undersealed...!
Still wanted £15k for it!

Before I got my impreza I was looking at these as a fn2 replacement.
The front bumper isn’t to my taste but someone spent a LOT of money on that.
Hope you enjoy it. Stick it on a ramp as these like to rust as you are probably well aware.
Very first job for it is exactly that, hopefully I can get it in the air next weekend and have a proper look. There's a few bubbles appeared in the usual spot at the back of the sideskirts, so that is to be addressed, just got to see what other jobs it needs from there really. I remember this car and it can be seen on this thread from 2018, posted by the person who did the mods:

Great buy for the money, hope the rust isn't too bad, nothing worse than chasing rust on an otherwise very good car.

I've been putting my best Google skills to use trying to find some posts of it on here but couldn't find anything specific. Top man, thank you. https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

I did find another quick snap from picking it up at the weekend. As I had to collect it from Bicester a detour into caffeine and machine on the way home just seemed a silly thing not to do. It's always quite cool when you're given a good parking space
