Thought I would add my newest car on here as like many New BMW’s especially the M cars they are a bit controversial in looks and weight!!

Gone are the days of lightweight saloons and pretty much cars these days with even lotus pretty much 1.5tons ?!?

Anyway after having many cars over the years more recently Ariel atoms I decided to sell my last atom due to realising it was hard to enjoy a 90k occasional use car and get my moneys worth so sold that and got a camper, and briefly a CanAm Maverick Turbo RR and M4 CS. Then as my CS Was in BMW for a service I was looking around the G80 and it really grew on me! As I let the salesman know an hour later he told me one had just come in…. Funny that.

Now the big appeal was the practicality the x-drive and potential in performance!
I put a deposit on the car without driving it or any G80 and then sold the CS privately within a week.
It certainly wasn’t my first choice in colours but now I actually love it. The attention it gets is frankly ridiculous way more than any of the atoms I’ve had which is just bizarre!

Anyway after getting the car and trying to get some miles under it, it has really suprised me! It’s straight line turbo punch feels quicker than it is pretty much GTR pace with all that traction yet a great comfy place to be. And loads of toys even with only the comfort and visibility packs ticked

It lacked the noise due to the OPF so after plenty of deliberation I decided to scrap the warranty and get a Midpipe and a little tune. This isn’t cheap as you have to send the ECU to a Russian firm based in Finland just to unlock it and then a custom tune to gearbox and main ECU.
If anyone knows anything about these S58 platform they really are the best platform out there for the tuning market.
Anyway now the car sounds a little mental (in sport mode) in eco still sounds pretty stock! And has the performance to rival a 992 turbo S and better 1/4 mile times of its motorbike sibling the 1000RR!
And if I spent another 1500 quid and add a flex fuel kit you can add a bit of ethanol would beat both the above! Not bad for a family 3 series with a few k of mods!

If you can get over the looks I’d strongly recommend one!

No fan of modern BMWs, but I don't think these look awful. One car that looks better with a front plate, though, which will also prevent albatrosses from being drawn into the engine.
