Hello guys

Starting a thread for my latest purchase. I have a bad habit of getting bored whilst working away and buying cars that I probably should not. This popped up on FB marketplace. A 2009 Abarth 500. Mileage is 66k. Previous owner said he parked it up 6 months ago and after taking it for a spin to free up the brakes it developed a misfire. I will take that with a pinch of salt and do my own investigation.

It comes with the aftermarket wheels pictured, the original wheels and a facelift rear bumper. I have a spare set of facelift rear lights to go on. The plan is to get it fixed up and MOT'd, run around in it for a bit and then probably sell it on.

I paid the grand total of £2500 and its being delivered tomorrow afternoon. The car is in Manchester and I live in Loughborough. I've never bought a car unseen but what is the worst that can happen biggrin

I have one bad quality pic from the seller so far.

We already have another grey abarth so I have all the bits needed to swap over for diagnosing the misfire. Worst case scenario is that it could be low compression but you can pick up new engines for peanuts.

Yes 3d plates are chavvy but this one is my gfs and she insisted that she wanted it as chavvy as possible. She's a teacher at the local high school and the kids love it.

I've had a few of these now so well aware of the common issues. Here are my last two.....

Wish me luck and thanks for reading!

Cheap, cheerful, easy to work on, fun to drive. I have a BMW 125i cab and an Audi A1 2.0 TDI for the longer journeys. I don't like using the Abarths for long trips.

At my sons school, the head has a Mini cooper S, certainly stands out a field full of boring cars!

I must admit im not au fait with the various 500 models but i know they are all a riot to drive biggrin

I see a yellow and black one most days, with stickers everywhere, so must be one of the fast ones hehe
