Do I, don’t I E63 63
Discussion
Well where do I start this thread …perhaps starting with the realisation that at 40 I’ve just learned how to use that white box in the corner of the kitchen. Apparently it not only washes clothes but drys them also. So much for the wife saying for the last 10 years she’s sick of washing the clothes ! What bo//‘ks.
Ps if easily offended, leave this thread.
So 5 weeks ago I realised that Ive had enough of dribbling all my hard earned money on our extension and needed something for you know….me. I’ve grown to love the shape of the e63, even though when they first appeared I thought they looked dreadful. I actually loved the shape that much I had a 650i for 12 months before I had to sell it to pay for our wedding and always missed it.
So the plan was, to fix up my daily eco car and sell, once I was in possession of a more manly car.
A 2008 2 owner 630i became available on autotrader, black on black msport. 2 owners, full hpi. New Goodyear run flats all round. A video of said car was quickly sent, followed by bank transfer request ( alarm bells, my adhd brain was too busy looking for squirrels ) and the purchase made with promise of delivery in a few days.
During the wait I resisted using my creative flair to entice new clients with my god like renderings, instead ….. to research wheel spacers, coil overs, duck tails, big boobs……sorry front spoiler etc etc oh 21 inch wheels ..and generally visualised an oem+ plus look.
Day of the delivery, Friday eve at 7pm. The delivery driver in broken English said “ enjoy, a beautiful car my friend ! “. I couldn’t hesitate no longer, jumped in the car to re familiarise and then I was off. 1/2 mile down the road, engine light came, rear end was tramping down, acceleration was juddering. I quickly turned round and drove back home. The wife welcomed me back in the house and said “ are you happy ?”…..clearly I said “yes I am “ and settled down for a beer. …… fe£k my life…….
Called the dealership up following morning and advised the issue. Was told that the battery was flat as the car had been standing for a few months and a new battery was installed before delivery. Was also advised that cars are a temprimental when a battery has been changed and can flag errors until it’s been driven a bit. A week later, more issues appeared, wheel not returning to centre, electric issues, miss fire. Local garage took it in, did a diagnostic and issued me 3 pages of errors and politely said …sod it off back to the dealer as you’re covered under consumers rights……should get your money back. .bladdy great !
Things get interesting now, dealer called numerous times ( probably like 20 times ) no reply. Emailed, no reply, emailed again with copy of faults, no reply. I text the company and finally got a reply, sorry we will only respond to you via text so we have a copy of the conversation. Was advised via text that the cars not faulty as ecu’s only show issues. I quickly confirmed with the dealer that an ecu issue is actually an error reporting a fault on a car and no not one fault in this case but 3 pages worth. That was the last I heard off this absolute piece of pond life.
Email sent requesting full refund and collection of vehicle, along with letter copy. No response, so now I’ve had to go legal. Cars been sitting on the road for 4 week now and noticed another bladddy issue. The rear quarter has been enjoying the rain and sunshine and is now revealing a large area where it looks like some substance has been thrown on the car and the paint is damaged. Amazing what heavy coloured car wax can cover these days ….
So here I am playing the waiting game. The dealer has until the 1st July to respond. At which time they can ask for a 2 week extension. What a bloody mess ……..
I’m sure there will be more to come on this, so here’s a pic of the offending car dumped outside the house. Every time I look at it, I just want to get it fixed and forget this all happened ….but I just can’t let this dealer get away with this and do it to others ( he’s done it numerous times ) . Plus the dealer is very silly as after all he doesn’t realise I have a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people ……tbc

I hear what you’re saying, but surely PistonHeads has a duty of care to its readership and consumers ..as after all we are the ones that keep this forum going. By deleting this thread, that’s surely siding with unscrupulous dealers which surely they wouldn’t support ? But any how, I want to continue this thread to the out come and onward with a positive chat about my car journey.

While your issues may very well be legitimate, the 'no naming and shaming' rule is to prevent others with more nefarious attitudes from slagging off companies willy-nilly.The dealer may or may not be unscrupulous.
On rhe other hand, you may be a vindictive lunatic, without a leg to stand on.
We only have your word on it.

I don't make the rules or enforce them - I just didn't want an interesting thread deleted for something that could be dealt with a quick editIt's a source of ongoing frustration to many of us, but I'm afraid no point arguing with your fellow inmates, it's rule 5 here https://www.pistonheads.com/rules-of-posting
I agree about these Beemers ageing well, and it's definitely something special for the price of something ordinary. Unfortunately there are more than a few badly looked after cars out there, I'm sure the garage who advised you to return it was wise as repairs can easily eclipse the purchase price.
I have a 2007 AMG whose previous owner spent the purchase price again in repairs (>£10k), and it wasn't even that bad when he got it! And I've put money into it since too. The running costs even for a good example mean many get skimped on, sadly.
Good luck getting a refund, it sounds like you're well within the 30 days to reject as being not of satisfactory quality.
I hope you can then find a better example and enjoy.
Well, looks like for the daily 50 mile round commute …I will have to keep using what’s effectively know as ‘L’Oréal ‘ yes because I’m worth it. Yes it’s summer, but you’re not going to catch me with the roof down, especially not with my surfboard on the passenger seat…will look a right twerp.
The white elephant …in the room …yep 19 inch rims, they’re a reflection of my footwear ( plus JPS livery, you get my drift ). I effectively live in a farming community and apparently wearing tucked in checked shirts with boots covered in cow white is the norm. After one visit in the local pub in my canary yellow trainers ( crepes I believe ) and my rather direct at times adhd dialogue….I’m now know as the notorious ….because I apparently say what others are thinking.
Anyway, does anyone else like blinking ?

Having looked up the dealer prior to it being deleted from the original post, that’s quite a set of reviews, with the positive ones almost certainly made up! Best of luck, as I would guess they are pretty experienced in dealing with (or avoiding) this sort of thing.
I know, unfortunately my bladdy phone would only open the latest review which was positive …..was only when the issues occurred did I check it out on the iPad ….and thus opened Pandora’s box. Interestingly, I placed an honest negative review, it was never shown. I placed a second review on autotrader on a different email and that wasn’t shown. So I emailed feefo? Who audits the reviews and asked ..what’s effectively going on. Received an automated response last week but nothing since. Went on Google to review their business page and they’re not registered. They have a Facebook page, but it’s not a business page ..but an add friend page ….hmmmmmmGassing Station | Readers' Cars | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
