C63s - convertible
Discussion
I have wanted one of these for a while, but somehow I convinced myself we needed a big 4x4 so after a year or so and 25k miles with the XC90 B5, that has been a truly fabulous car it was time for something daft again.
C63s Premium spec, most of them are fairly limited option wise but mine has the 360 camera, and the most important option on any AMG, the optional exhaust valve button thing 😎😎😎
I managed to get about 150 miles in today, very comfortable considering what it is.
As I do 25k miles a year, I suspect I’m going to have to try and learn how to, at times drive it economically, as so far the first 150 miles = 1 tank of Shells finest V power 🤣🤣🤣
I’ll try to keep this updated with running costs for the year to see what I get to fuel, tyre servicing wise, but it was £250 cheaper a year to inure than the Volvo so that was a good start !

Very nice car that. Nice to see in silver, with a soft top and having mostly silver wheels looks better than many that have all black.
I'd imagine comfort wouldn't be too problematic and the noise with the roof down must be wonderful, even a more normal car with the roof down is fun.
Fair play for running it though, I'm not sure how these compare to the previous 6.2 V8 for thirst but either way you may need deep pockets. But you'll be smiling!

Congratulations OP: looks lovely.
This was on my shortlist for a while (bought from QCC in Wickford..?). C63s at that price point are few and far between; seems to be an awful lot of car for the money.
Retrofit CarPlay is about £500 installed if memory serves: might be a neat way round the terrible MB infotainment…
ETA: what (if anything) else did you consider?

The C63 was the only car on my list really, it was this or try to find another Polestar I really fancied a Lexus GSF also but the day I woke up and decided the day was the day there were none for sale , I half arsed looked at older RS4 convertibles but they are either overpriced or absolute dogs. This was on my shortlist for a while (bought from QCC in Wickford..?). First couple of tanks down and managed around 23 MPG, probably helped by the fact that I have an easy cruise down the M11 for most of my commute, but then then MPG gets pretty dire when I hit the bottom of the M11 and crawl toward the office where I reckon I’m lucky if I’m getting 15MPG.
So to balance it out I’m taking the bike in for two days this week and that gets over 40mpg when your “on it” so technically my average commute MPG isn’t to bad, or at least that’s what my man maths is telling me ;-)
Otherwise the noise is fantastic, eats miles with ease and handles very very well considering the big lump that sits up front.
Will be going in for some new tyres and alignment next week as the car came with some mid range specials that don’t inspire confidence at the rear coming out of corners and as the car has some ridiculous torque figures I want something that is going to give a bit more stick than I have at the moment

Well a difficult start to ownership with the C63
Front wheel bearing needed replacing dealer agreed to sort that out and the car had a slight wobble from the front end, dealer took an age sorting so didn’t get many miles with the car.
Managed to get that done then a delightful lorry driver hit and run me, I gave chase but he was determined to get away and was going to end up causing an accident so just let it go. Karma will catch up with him.
So car repaired and looking fresh again
Off to a very friendly AMG tech who side hustles in servicing
Had an oil change, gearbox and diff oil change last weekend
The diff oil was like milkshake, really bad considering the car has had two diff oil changes in 30k miles by Merc dealers over just under 8 years apparently, just shows the main dealers really don’t do what they tell you they do.
I’m know currently waiting for 4 of Michelin’s finest to be fitted and 4 wheel alignment as the car is all over the place ! And finally I can actually get to enjoy the bloody thing properly !!!!

Well after 4 months of ownership I’m moving the Merc on.
It’s been a bit of disappointing car to be honest, once the initial joys of ownership worn of, the AMG, is well, a bit boring.
I found it to be a bit of a one trick pony, absolute straight line animal yes, makes a glorious noise, but it doesn’t really handle that well. It’s a mile away from an ///M car.
Also I live a rural part of Essex where the roads are awful, and the last few weeks of bad rain have been a real pain and made the roads even worse, I want something a bit smaller, that can deal with the odd bit of bumpy road, this just can’t, the ride is not great. And having to take alternative routes is adding far to much time to my commute.
It’s been surprisingly ecconomical, in 4500 miles it’s managed 26mpg, however it’s seen as low as 8. It’s also been great to have the roof down in the summer with V8 burbling away.
Picking up the new car today - it has less that half the cylinders but should be more fun, and I doubt the C63 would see what way it went on my favourite country roads, I’ll stick a new thread up about that later.
