2019 suzuki swift sport zc33s

After 10 months of trying to be sensible in a mk9 civic tourer 1.6dtec enjoying the free road tax and the 70mpg. I wanted a change the car was great but wasn't being used anywhere near as much as it deserved. i managed 3k miles since id bought it
I like to go for a drive every now and then and the civic wasn't entertaining to drive
the search was on, I'm a hot hatch kind of person
I wanted something fun, lightweight, relatively new, paid for, cheap to run and maintain
this narrowed my search down to the 'warm' hatch sector.
my missus has a Suzuki Vitara with the 1.4 petrol turbo boosterjet engine in it and given the stats on paper i was really impressed with it
this brings us onto the replacement
only had it two days but I'm quietly impressed with it. interior build quality is definitely a step down from Honda
very impressed with the amount of tech included especially given the fact it weighs less than a tonne from factory
just getting to know the car at the moment and no doubt it'll have a few bits and pieces improved over the course of my ownership.
I'm hoping to take care of the breathing mods and a remap should see the car at pretty much 180hp/tonne which should be more than enough to keep me entertained on the local b roads if I fancy it

You'll be glad to know that some people are getting ridiculous, diesel econo hatch like MPG with these cars. Presume this is down to the weight and small capacity.
CTC do a lot of parts for these cars and even had one tested in Evo magazine, with some of their add ons. Can't vouch for them as a company though, as I found them difficult to get hold of on their phone number, so went elsewhere.

I've had several ignis sports, zc31s swift sport and now this.
I've seen that thread do need to have another browse through it to familiarise myself with the go to mods available.
We've had a 20 plate Swift Sport as Mrs CP's runaround since the summer and both love it. Her because newish supermini with Car Play and decent headlights and me because warm hatch.
It's got a HKS exhaust on it so it sounds pretty fruity
and I'm fairly sure has had a remap (6300rpm rev limit). It certainly goes much harder than 140bhp and surprises seemingly more senior cars
Best real mpg we've got from a tank is 52mpg and averaging 43.
Only things that bug me are the infotainment is average at best (especially the quiet Bluetooth connection when on the phone) and the lack of rain sensing wipers yet it has adaptive cruise and high beam!
I can see us keeping it for a long time

I think direct injection is the main thing for the economy.It’s a lot better than the previous model which is a thirsty thing.
The computer on the previous sport overstates the mpg by 15% to 20% so people think they are doing ok. The reality is high 30s mpg at best. They are a bit better on a long motorway run if you stick to 70.
I’d like to move to a turbo but they are holding their value ridiculously well.
Love the ethos behind these cars. Light weight is more fun more of the time, better on fuel, better for the planet. Win win.
I do wish they made a 3-door variant. Part of me wishes they kept the old 1.6 engine, too. With no turbo or intercooler/piping, the old M16 would surely be even lighter still, in a package that's over 100kg lighter than the previous-gen Swift. Imagine what a hoot that old revvy engine would feel like in a car that weighed a little over 900kg!
Either way, after seeing the work (and the quality of it) you put into the Civic, I'm very much looking forward to seeing what you do with this one!

I've got a 1.2l model of this car, does your collision sensor trigger itself when a car is several metres ahead of you? It is insanely frustrating to have this go off when I'm so far behind the car, yet its slamming the brakes on by itself!!
I do wish that I just waited and got one of these sports instead of the mild hybrid one that I got instead. Look forward to seeing your journey on this one.

From what I've seen remapped cars will push the boost gauge off the scale. The lines go up on roughly 0.25 bar increments and standard boost is around 1 bar. Remapped usually 1.3/1.5 apparently so ot should go right off the scale.It's got a HKS exhaust on it so it sounds pretty fruity

Om hoping to make it sound somewhat better as currently sounds like a vacuum cleaner. My missus has a Vitara with same engine and that's averaged 48mpg in 30k miles with her.
Again the Vitara shares the same entertainment system so om just used to it now.
Not even realized about the wipers but adaptive cruise, lane assist and high beam assist was a nice surprise

These Modern direct injection engines seems to be cracking 50mpg quite easily these days.It’s a lot better than the previous model which is a thirsty thing.
The computer on the previous sport overstates the mpg by 15% to 20% so people think they are doing ok. The reality is high 30s mpg at best. They are a bit better on a long motorway run if you stick to 70.

I'd had my eye on them for a while and was just waiting till they dropped below 10k which they have been hovering just over for a while now for a higher mileage car.

Alot of people have swapped in the m16a into the ignis sport and that gives similar power and weight figures to what you mention. This engine has surprised me massively as above first drove my missus Vitara which is probably 150-200kg heavier than the swift and that still want like the clappers. The overall weight is a great achievement considering it's still got the safety and comfort features most people want. It is tinny, the interior is scratchy build wise but I knew this and it all adds up to make a surprisingly agile car. The stats on paper do not do this car any justice. I do wish they made a 3-door variant. Part of me wishes they kept the old 1.6 engine, too. With no turbo or intercooler/piping, the old M16 would surely be even lighter still, in a package that's over 100kg lighter than the previous-gen Swift. Imagine what a hoot that old revvy engine would feel like in a car that weighed a little over 900kg!

I'll no doubt pit my own mark on the car and find things I think needs improvement in time but just being back to something fun to chuck about is enough for the moment

Funny you mention that. This swift hasn't yet but my missus Vitara which I presume will run the same parameters in the system does however only with her driving. I do wish that I just waited and got one of these sports instead of the mild hybrid one that I got instead. Look forward to seeing your journey on this one.
Please don't take this as an insult and I know nothing about your driving style but it happens to my missus as she is always on the throttle right up to the point she is forced to use the brakes to come to a stop in traffic instead of just coasting up to the back of standing traffic. God knows why I've told her a million times she'll end up in the back of someone it's a family trait they all do it. She's know best untill it happens then it'll be my fault for mentioning it lol

God knows why I've told her a million times she'll end up in the back of someone it's a family trait they all do it. She's know best untill it happens then it'll be my fault for mentioning it lol
No offense taken at all. I also coast when possible, it helps top the battery up too. The only way I can stop it from happening is by stopping well in advance.
I had it go off while coasting to a stop just yesterday. I was over a car length behind the car that was in front of me and it triggered the brakes. I even had it trigger on a slight bend when a car was parked off the road altogether, but the system sensed a crash was imminent.
Stop start traffic, it went off 4 times within a 150 metre stretch of road. Frustrating, but the car does its job. Turning it off sets the yellow light on the dash which bugs me too, I can't win either way lol.
Please don't take this as an insult and I know nothing about your driving style but it happens to my missus as she is always on the throttle right up to the point she is forced to use the brakes to come to a stop in traffic instead of just coasting up to the back of standing traffic. God knows why I've told her a million times she'll end up in the back of someone it's a family trait they all do it. She's know best untill it happens then it'll be my fault for mentioning it lolI drive the 1.2 quite often aswell and find the collision warning alot more sensitive than the Sport.
